🇪🇺🇩🇿 Algeria is not respecting its trade liberalisation commitments under the EU-Algeria Association Agreement. The EU has therefore started dispute settlement proceedings. 👇 Algeria has imposed discriminatory restrictions on a range of EU exports and investments. That is a clear breach of our agreement. In light of unsuccessful efforts to resolve the matter amicably, the EU has taken this step to preserve the rights of EU exporters and EU companies operating in Algeria who are adversely affected. The Algerian measures also harm Algerian consumers, due to an unduly restricted choice of products. 🇪🇺🇩🇿 We have therefore started dispute settlement proceedings to defend European companies. 🇪🇺🥩🇰🇷 Attention all steak-holders! The Republic of Korea has now greenlit imports of beef from France and Ireland, a proof of trust in our high food safety standards. This is thanks to an excellent working (and trading) relationship between the EU and Korea. The removal of this trade barrier not only marks the start of French and Irish beef exports to the Republic of Korea, but also underscores the cooperative efforts between the EU and the Republic of Korea to ensure the safety and quality of traded food products. The Commission anticipates that other Member States will soon follow in being able to export beef to the Republic of Korea, further deepening our trading relationship. 🇰🇷🥩🇪🇺 The Republic of Korea is one of the biggest import markets for beef in the world. #EUTrade #SouthKorea #EuropeanUnion

🇪🇺🇨🇳 The European Commission has provisionally concluded that the battery electric vehicles (BEV) value chain in China benefits from unfair subsidisation. As part of its ongoing investigation, the Commission has provisionally concluded that the battery electric vehicles (BEV) value chain in China benefits from unfair subsidisation, which is causing a threat of economic injury to EU BEV producers. The investigation also examined the likely consequences and impact of measures on importers, users and consumers of BEVs in the EU. Consequently, the Commission has reached out to Chinese authorities to discuss these findings and explore possible ways to resolve the issues identified in a WTO-compatible manner. In this context, the Commission has pre-disclosed the level of provisional countervailing duties it would impose on imports of battery electric vehicles (‘BEVs') from China. Should discussions with Chinese authorities not lead to an effective solution, these provisional countervailing duties would be introduced from 4 July by a guarantee (in the form to be decided by customs in each Member State). They would be collected only if and when definitive duties are imposed. Get all the facts: https://europa.eu/!RtKCcF #EUTrade #BEV #ElectricVehicles

🇪🇺🍟 Colombia has failed to abide by the WTO ruling on the frozen fries dispute with the EU. The EU is now requesting consultations to resolve the matter. What happened? Exports of frozen fries from Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany to Colombia amounted to €23 million in 2016. Columbia imposed duties on imports from those countries in November 2018, and target almost all (85% or €19.3 million) of EU exports of frozen fries to Colombia. The EU launched a dispute settlement case, which it won. Colombia claimed to have implemented the findings and recommendations of the panel report and of the Multi-Party Interim Appeal Arbitration Arrangement. However, the EU considers that Colombia artificially created and/or inflated the dumping margins by using WTO-incompatible methodologies. And now? This is why the EU is making recourse to the WTO’s compliance consultation process. With this step, the EU seeks to preserve the rights of EU exporters and to send a signal to Colombia – as well as other countries intending to limit EU exports – that anti-dumping investigations need to be carried out in full respect of WTO rules. 🇪🇺🍟 If we can't reach an agreement, the EU stands ready to take the next steps. 🇪🇺💙💛🇺🇦 EU ministers agreed to hike tariffs on Russia/Belarus grain imports from July 1, in order to: ✅ stop Russian grain from destabilising 🇪🇺 farm sector ✅ restrict Russia revenues to fund its war on Ukraine ✅ tackle illegal Russian exports of stolen Ukraine grain into EU markets We are increasing the tariffs on imports into the EU of cereals, oilseeds, and derived grain products from Russia and Belarus. These tariffs, while high enough to suppress such imports into the EU in practice, would not affect exports to third countries. 🇪🇺💙💛🇺🇦 The EU stands firmly with Ukraine and its people, and will continue to strongly support Ukraine's economy, as well as its society, armed forces, and future reconstruction, for as long as it takes. #StandWithUkraine #EUTrade

#UseYourVote to stand for democracy.   The EU elections take place between 6–9 June 2024. Your vote will decide which Members of the European Parliament will represent you in preparing new EU laws.   Democracy should never be taken for granted. It is a collective achievement – and it is a collective responsibility in which we all have a role.   Every vote counts. Don’t let others decide for you, use your vote.    #EuropeanUnion
