Meet the Artist: @lurrkingly
Hey! I’m Liv (or Lurr, or some secret third thing) [she/he/they], and I am a digital artist in Chicago! When I was coming out of undergrad, I wanted to go to art school really bad… so, naturally, I ended up going to grad school for something totally different! I think I am still figuring out the role I want art to play in my life (though I want it to be a big one, whatever it is). As a Black artist, it has become important to me that Black characters (especially Black women) feature prominently in my work. I know it would have meant a lot to me as a younger artist to have surrounded myself with more art that represents me in this way. I hope I can be that artist for others! I’ve recently come back to posting my art on Tumblr after a very hectic time in my life–—I’m excited to continue sharing my artistic journey with everyone. Nice to meet you! <3
