Meet the Artist: @themetalhiro

Hi, I’m Metal! I’m a freelance artist from good ol’ New Jersey. My favorite things to work with are a lot of bright colors, exaggerated poses, and candid scenarios. I try to farm sensible chuckles whenever I can, so I’m also big into comics. I love making them about my life, and the media I’m into, and one day I’d like to publish my own series!
Thank you to everyone who has gotten me this far!!

Pleased to meet you, Metal! Check out some of their art below.

Art has been my comfort zone and passion for as long as I can remember, so I hope that my art can give that sense of comfort and nostalgia for others! Meet the Artist: @kiisaes

Hi there, I’m Min / Becki (any pronouns)! I like drawing both fan and original art! I’m primarily a cartoonist and illustrator, and I aim to craft narratives that are fun and entertaining but also speak to the human condition. Comics are my one true love; I adore reading and making them, but also nerding out about the technical stuff like paneling, lettering, thumbnailing… You know, the stuff no one cares about. I post my comics on tumblr, and I have a longer comic in the works that you can check out at @chimerakingdom, if you’re interested!
In my free time, I like to draw (duh), play pirated DS games on my PC, read comics / manga, and hang out with my friends. I have several Kirby and shrimp plushies, but what I really want is a cat I can call some silly name like Bread.

Pleased to meet you, Min! Below are some pieces they have picked out for you all to appreciate.

Meet the Artist: @erindrawsstuff

Hi, I’m Erin, and I draw stuff! I’m an illustrator and 2D animator based in Austin, Texas (yee-haw). I’ve been in and out of the animation/entertainment industry for about 3 years, working many different roles like character designer for Rooster Teeth, animator for The Daytripper (a Texas-based PBS special), and character and prop designer for Lowbrow Studios (Adam Ruins Everything, etc.). Most of my work is now in personal projects like my webcomic “SUBSIX” (I promise I’m coming back to it!) and working with friends and colleagues within indie spaces, all while working my day job and returning to school for a degree in 3D animation!

Most of my inspiration can likely be traced back to my cringe anime roots and the more obscure 2D animated movies from Disney while looking to new inspirations like Into the Spider-verse and Delicious in Dungeon. I think my main goal has been to create compelling stories with enticing characters while trying to navigate the complexities of life and the people in it (both in the media I create and irl). In the meantime, I explore this through reading works like The Locked Tomb, listening to Philosophy Tube, playing disaster lesbians in our DnD campaign of nearly 4 years, playing video games that make me cry and question things, and challenging myself to grow and improve in all aspects.

I hope someday I’m able to return to being a full-time artist, but for now, I’m rediscovering why I create and how to maintain a reasonable work/life balance. I’m truly grateful that people enjoy my work, regardless of how big or small my following is or becomes in the future. I hope one day I’m able to be an inspiration to someone as many have for me! Thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself!

Nice to meet you, Erin! Below are some pieces they have shared with you all.

Hello! My name is Camber (any pronouns), and I’m a mixed media illustrator located in the southwestern United States. I love drawing everything, but I have a special interest in depicting strange creatures and environments, often accompanied by abstract imagery and mark-making. Professionally, I’ve worked creating concept art and 2D assets for museum exhibits, but currently, I am engaged full-time as a software developer and make standalone illustrations in my free time. I’ve been posting art on Tumblr since I was a teenager, and the site has been very welcoming towards my work to this very day!

Meet the Artist: @juubli

Hello! I’m Jasmine (She/Her) , an artist working in the animation industry. I do everything from character design, location design, to art direction and visual development. I’ve recently art directed my first short feature called Rocket Saves the day!

@aero.the.toller is my fur baby and my greatest source of inspiration. I love to eat and I hate exercising. When I’m not outdoors taking photos of Aero, I’m inside my artist cave playing video games and procrastinating on doing more art. :)

I use a Cintiq for work but an iPad for doodles! I prefer the thin Cintiq pen to the regular thick one~

In case you can’t tell by the vast amount of Baldur’s Gate fan art that I have recently created, it has become my favorite game of all time!

Hello! I’m Faith, a Los Angeles-based artist working across animation, illustration, and comics. As a background designer, I’ve worked on shows like The Owl House and Amphibia. As an illustrator, I’ve done a lot of fun projects including campaign art for Dimension 20’s “A Court of Fey and Flowers”.
Outside of my professional art, my personal work focuses on myth, fairytale, and fantasy. I like making pieces that hint at larger stories with strong emotional cores. I also draw a lot of swords- enough to make an art challenge about them! If you’ve ever participated in #swordtember, thank you! : )

Meet the Artist: @nooskadraws

Greetings! I’m Aleksander (he/him), also known as nooska, and I’m a trans gay illustrator from the U.K. Historical fiction, fashion, and fantasy are my cup of tea. I’m currently working on my first ever graphic novel entitled “Ancestree” set to be published by Oni Press: a queer Victorian gothic tale filled with plant ghosts. My hope for my art is to draw more beautiful trans people with inspiration drawn from my Belarusian upbringing and its folklore. When not making art, I can be found curled in an armchair reading, taking a nature walk in the hope of being found by the Fey, or rolling dice with friends.

Pleased to meet you, Aleksander! Check out some of the art he has picked out to feature below.

Meet the Artist: @septembersart

Hi guys! My name is Jenna, and I’m a South African artist based in the US. I’ve just stumbled out of a fancy traditional art university earlier this year, and am learning how to make art for myself again. For me, that takes the form of turning my favorite book series into a (fake) video game, and filling every inch of my sketchbook with post-it notes, stickers, and tracing paper. I’m very into vintage print, dynamic characters, and retro tech, all of which can be found in Space Soda, the webcomic I’m planning on releasing this year!
I’ve been on tumblr for about 7 years, and I love the community I’ve found here. I’m very grateful for everyone who’s supported me on my art journey, especially those who gave a few likes to those wonky photos of my sketchbook so long ago.

Nice to meet you, Jenna! Below are some art pieces she has picked out to feature.

Meet the Artist: @lurrkingly

Hey! I’m Liv (or Lurr, or some secret third thing) [she/he/they], and I am a digital artist in Chicago! When I was coming out of undergrad, I wanted to go to art school really bad… so, naturally, I ended up going to grad school for something totally different! I think I am still figuring out the role I want art to play in my life (though I want it to be a big one, whatever it is). As a Black artist, it has become important to me that Black characters (especially Black women) feature prominently in my work. I know it would have meant a lot to me as a younger artist to have surrounded myself with more art that represents me in this way. I hope I can be that artist for others! I’ve recently come back to posting my art on Tumblr after a very hectic time in my life–I’m excited to continue sharing my artistic journey with everyone. Nice to meet you! <3

Hello there! My name is Matt Sirach, and I’m an illustrator, cartoonist, and designer with a degree in Architecture and a passion for wallpaper.
I’ve been afflicted since childhood with a particularly stubborn case of Anglophiliawe’ve tried everything from bloodletting to mesmerismyet it keeps inevitably influencing my art and taste.
Most ofif not allmy illustrations are set in a timeframe ranging from the late Victorian Era to the 1930s: I like the clothes, I like the interiors, I like the graphics and the design, and I find the societal affectations of that time endlessly amusing.
I gravitate towards humor and comedy alwayseven when I design wallpapersand I like my illustrations to be dynamic and tell a story in the most succinct way possible.

Hello. My name is Cindy (she/they). I am a freelance 2D character designer and illustrator based in Canada. I like to make art that pops out of the computer screen with bold linework, bright colors, and emotive characters. I am constantly inspired by cool concepts in the visual media I consume, such as giant robots, medieval armor, and high fantasy. It keeps the imagination running! My dream is to put the ideas bouncing around my head into a visual format which other people can see and understand the themes behind, like an illustration series or an ongoing digital comic. Meet the Artist: @doublescribble

Hello Tumblr: I’m Nick, an illustrator from Brooklyn, New York, and I started Double Scribble way back in 2011. It initially began as curated work featuring different artists from all over the world. There was nothing like it at the time, so it garnered some attention, which allowed me to host four gallery shows in different cities across the U.S. (Cleveland, Boston, Memphis, and Portland). I loved meeting all the artists who gave me permission to post their work and providing a hub for the vibrant community of sports-loving creatives. Around 2018, I began exclusively posting my own work and have shared a new drawing almost every day since. I’ve gotten such enjoyment seeing myself improve my craft—creativity is a skill, and the more you exercise those muscles the better you’ll get over time!

Meet the Artist: @bbybluemochi

Hi! I’m Arun (they/them), a freelance illustrator based in Spain. Growing up I always had an affinity for art, but the mere idea of turning it into a career seemed impossible to me. So I went to university to study history, another passion of mine, and didn’t even think about picking up a pen for almost a decade. It wasn’t until my last year of university that I finally realized how unhappy I was, and decided to take the final step and start drawing again. Turns out that was the best decision of my life! Art did not only become a career for me, it’s also a way to share my experiences as a nonbinary lesbian with the world, and I was so lucky to find a loving community of people like me through it. For that I am forever grateful.

Meet the Artist: @kudriaken

Hi! My name is Anna, but I go by the nickname “Kudriaken”. I am an illustrator and artist who mostly draws fantasy. I am also working on my own story that I plan to someday draw as a comic. I think I always had the urge to draw stuff to accompany stories that I would randomly see in my head since I was a child. And I am continuing to do it as an adult.
I take a lot of inspiration from books, manga, comics, songs, and shows. Sometimes you can see me doing fanarts of the media I am passionate about. But also a lot of precious people around help me to be creative.
My actual education is not exactly art-related - I studied computer science. Weirdly enough it somewhat helps with learning art in some departments. I realized in the middle of my studies that my passion lies in the field of digital art, so that’s where I am n

Meet the Artist: @nohtora

Heya! My name is Noels (she/her), a Vietnamese-Australian hobby artist based in Melbourne. By day, I’m an interior architect but I’ve always loved illustration & painting. Drawing fanart of my favourite fandoms gives me the most joy, fantasy & period media being what I favour most! I’m currently trying to draw more often (balancing work-life is hard!!) & challenging myself with new drawing methods. But when I’m not drawing, you can usually find me wandering around thrift shops looking for treasures. Pleasure to meet you all!

Nice to meet you, Noels! She has shared some of her work below for you all.

Meet the Artist: @zandraart

Hiii! I’m @zandraart, a full time freelance illustrator & animator from the US! I love telling stories and creating worlds that you can get lost in. I’ve been posting my art on tumblr for years (a decade???) and love being able to share my art and connect with those who like it! After graduating art school, I’ve had the joy of working with companies and individuals from all over the globe to try and bring their visions to life. I’ve created animations from gifs to short films, art for feature films, worked on games, merch, illustrated books and magazine covers, webcomics, crafted up art for phone apps and even painted custom gaming systems!
The world is so much better with more art in it, and I love being able to share mine with you!
Feel free to check ou
t my website to see what I’ve been up to!

Nice to meet you, Alex! She has shared some of their work below for you all.

Meet the Artist: @ashleyloob

’m Ash, and I draw funny catgirls and comic shorts with my queer OCs. I draw other stuff too, but that’s what I’m mainly known for.
Queerness, slice of life, and shitposting are the main themes that recur in my narrative works. I draw inspiration from the copious amounts of interpersonal drama within my own life and distill them into the recurring characters that appear regularly in my art as a coping mechanism. It’s cheaper than therapy.
When I’m not slaving away at my desk making art, I like to pick up heavy objects and put them back down (weightlifting), clean bird poop off my all furniture (pet parrot), and chew my nails into little stubs (gross).

Nice to meet you, Ash! Below are some of her artworks that she has picked out to feature.

Meet the Artist: @aubryjoi

Hi folks! My name’s Aubry (they/them), and I’m a trans non-binary illustrator specializing in animal artwork! My favorite mediums to work in are Posca paint pens & Procreate on the iPad. I love creating cute & colorful characters, and especially queer-themed artwork! My goal with my art is to bring smiles to folks’ faces & brighten their days. This year, I’ve introduced a new character, Egg the Trans Raccoon, into my work, and I’ve been building feelings of trans joy & community through them. I’m also a huge fan of making enamel pins and other trinkets of my designs!

Nice to meet you, Aubry! They have shared some artwork for you all to appreciate.

Meet the Artist: @sakrafka

Hello, I’m Boka or Farkas (Far-kash)!
I’m an Eastern European artist under the name of sakrafka (shak-raf-ka). The themes of my art mainly revolve around sapphic and transmasc identities, wlw, nature, animals, and creatures (dragons!!!). I love experimenting and working with different mediums, mainly sculpting with ceramic and polymer clay but I also make animations, linocuts, textile printing, and more. One of the core elements of my work is to create more representation for gender-nonconforming people, especially women - because as such, I’ve always felt very isolated in my identity. I love breaking gender stereotypes and creating a space for people where they can recognize themselves in my work which I never had growing up. If you are autistic, queer or just love creatures, I hope you’ll enjoy my work!

Nice to meet you, Farkas! Below are some pieces she has picked out for you all.

Check out more of Farkas’ work, and be sure to check out their Tumblr, @sakrafka!

Meet the Artist: @jovaline

Hi, my name is Arielle, and I’m a Filipina-American freelance illustrator, comic book artist, and writer! As a long-time theater kid, I love drawing characters with emotionally specific facial expressions and body language, and designing fun outfits and sets for them to live in. You might know my work from my graphic novels Black Star, Evil Thing: A Villains Graphic Novel, or most recently Girl Taking Over: A Lois Lane Story. It’s equally possible you’ve seen my work floating around here on Tumblr because I’ve been on this platform for 12 years!! Thanks so much for taking a look~ :)

Meet the Artist: @joshualunacreations

Hi, I’m Joshua and I’m a professional comic book writer and artist. I co-created three series at Image comics: UltraGirls, and The Sword. After I went solo with my Image series Whispers, I started making online comic strips exploring my Filipino/Asian American identity and experiences. What began as a side project and organic outlet to process my thoughts and feelings turned into a seven-year journey that continues to this day.
The more I write and draw, the more I realize I have to say—especially with the sharp increase in anti-Asian violence against AAPI and the institutional censorship that prevents us from addressing it adequately. I was told by my publisher that I wasn’t talking about AAPI issues in the “right way” because I tackle difficult, complex, and painful truths about Asian America. Despite these barriers, I’m determined to collect these strips into a book and publish them as Americanizasian. In the meantime, you can follow and share my work online and support me by pledging to my Patreon or donating to my PayPal.
Happy APAHM!

Pleased to meet you, Joshua! He has shared some of his comics below for you all.
