WikiProject Timna Valley is the community project for improving and updating content on Wikidata Timna Valley archaeological site. The project builds on the work of Prof. Erez Ben-Yosef from Tel Aviv University. The project uses its Wikibase as a source of information.
Regular participants in this project are team members, but everyone is welcome here! Anyone with questions about accessing Wikidata content, or who has data to share, or who wishes to discuss or propose changes may do so on the discussion page.
Vision
[edit]Our project, is building on work available via Wikidata:WikiProject Archaeology, which aims to mainstream modeling of items, properties, datasets and other projects in Wikidata that are related to archaeology. We hope to not only build on previous work available via this wikiproject, but also enriching it and expanding it when possible, which we hope will allow other academics to implement the accumulated data from this project more smoothly.
The transfer of the The Central Timna Valley Project (CTV) to Wikibase serves as a pioneering venture in Israeli academia, offering insights into the transition process, its benefits and challenges encountered. This case study aims to aid researchers seeking sustainable, long-term solutions by sharing experiences in adapting an academic database to an open platform like Wikibase.

How can I help?
[edit]- Click on an item or property in our database that you're interested in, and once you get to the entry for the item or property click "What Links Here" on the right hand side of the screen to see which archeological sites are linked to the item you've selected. Happy editing!
- Create Wikidata entries for key reference texts, where they do not exist so that these can be included as references. The reference list is public via an Excel sheet here.
