Motivation

[edit]

I recently discovered itch.io has numeric identifiers, which can either be used as a qualifier to itch.io URL (P7294) or as a standalone external identifier. I'd imagine (but haven't verified) that these IDs are additionally more stable than the URLs which can be renamed.

Identifiers can be easily found on the project page's source <meta name="itch:path" content="games/276085"/>

MobyGames also seems to keep track of Itch.io numeric identifiers (example entry, account required) so there may be some potential for automated cross-matching with MobyGames game ID (P11688)
