Make pride accessible for everyone!!!!
I made a post about this last year and the year before, and thought if I did it this way it gives people and orgs something to work towards. Often people forget that disabled people aren't just wheelchair users, and even those who are, need more than just that ramp!
My first ever pride, not only as a wheelchair but my first ever EVER pride, I went in expecting to feel at home.
Obviously I wasn't, I'm disabled, so why should I?
Instead there was just a ridiculous amount of uneven flooring, a steep ramp to the disabled toilet, no sanitary towel bin in the disabled toilet (???) no allowances to be let out of the festival to fetch things from my car, no where quiet and organisers who seemed genuinely surprised to see a wheelchair user!
My next pride, three years later, I was a seller, and while they had sorted their toilet problem (still no sanitary towel bin???), the hill to get in wouod have been genuinely impossible for me to get to if I hadn't been driving to get my stall in anyway, even with someone pushing me, no quiet areas, plenty of kerbs for me to get stuck at and again, genuine surprise.
Why is it so surprising to consider disabled people might be at pride? Not only do queer disabled people exist, but parents and family of queer kids and people, vendors and even entertainers!
Making pride accessible is crucial!

I showed this to my husband and he said he wants four mugs like this in various states of eaten, so he can swap when no one’s looking and make it look like he’s actually eating it.
you can't even spend money anymore. because of broke.
One thing I truly hate about my old day job is I actually enjoyed being a barista. I liked the infinite perfectability of it. I enjoyed the satisfaction of peoviding quick service. I liked talking with customers and getting to know them within a limited yet human script of interaction. I like coffee more than most folks. I look good in an apron.
But Starbucks treats people like shit. The constant on-call shifts made it hard to plan shit. The chronic understaffing would turn ordinary shifts into a panic if something went wrong. My knees and ankles were fucked from always being on my feet.
There is a close alternate future where Starbucks treats it's workers with dignity, and I was happy serving coffee for the rest of my life.
Now I write silly edutainment stuff about religion on the internet. I'm very thankful for my job. I'm very lucky that this is my primary income. But sometimes I dwell on how modern capitalism squandered someone who absolutely would have been happy in a service job.
Yeah I actually really liked cleaning movie theaters as an usher. But during rushes you have all of 10 minutes to clean a whole theater, you're also expected to socially manage customers- sorry, "guests", and can't wear headphones or earbuds because god help you if a Guest thinks you seem ~Distracted~ while you sweep 50 metric tons of popcorn. If. You know. For some reason they can see you.
Very loud, smelly, crowded, visually overwhelming club called "the comfort zone". "Sensory friendly night" on the last Sunday of each month from 6-8pm, which means they turn the music down a bit and sell fidget spinners.

it is a very long and convoluted process that is impossible for most Palestinians who do not have contacts in other counties. Please please donate to the GFMs you see floating around because they’ve been verified and this is only the first step in an arduous journey. Once in Cairo, Palestinians aren’t allowed to work so they need money for their support also.

life can be lonely when we live in separate boxes and worry about money all the time. this is what makes friendships hard, not growing older. but the antidote to isolation is connection, and the oldest wisdom we ever learn: share your toys. share your games. share your snacks.
