Can we talk about how significant it is that Charles basically asks Edwin to give him some time?

Edwin's a planner. Each step thought of over and over before it's even performed. He truly mulls over his feelings before acting on them (in the rare occasion he's actually forced to).

But Charles is impulsive. If it feels right he's going with it. He decides to stay with Edwin on basically a whim, a fact that confounds Edwin so much that he comments on it in his little 'you can't just act however you feel' speech.

But this. This confession, this relationship, this feeling is too important. He needs to make a plan, mull it over. Fall into Edwin's traditional role.

He can't lose Edwin, so he has to be sure that he truly romantically loves him. So he forces himself not to make the impulsive move. This in itself is an act of love.
