MHA Chapter 426 spoilers translations

This week’s initial tentative super rough/literal translations under the cut.

one of my favourite things to think about regarding izuku is whether or not he's oblivious to his feelings for katsuki. and when i say feelings, i mean just that--feelings. not necessarily romantic.

as i dive deeper into his character, i'm coming to this conclusion:

he is not oblivious to the fact that he has complicated and undefined feelings for katsuki. those feelings and his reactions to said feelings are shameful, "gross" according to izuku.

but his behavior, inspired by katsuki, is instinctual now.

he's talking to toga like he doesn't understand how someone could do awful things in the name of love, yet he shames himself for just insulting villains. on a lesser scale, izuku knows that feeling of wanting to be like someone else but being shamed for it--even if he himself is the one doing the shaming.

that's why he's significantly less empathetic towards himiko. he can understand shigaraki and touya. he tried to understand muscular, but resolved to just defeat him.

he doesn't give himiko that same empathy. because he relates to her and it hurts him.

so you are telling me, when Ochako wanted to forget about Himiko's tears and honest, cute smile, and focus on what her role as a hero should be by looking at the devastated city, she unconsciously chose to wear the shirt she wore when they met?

She wore it over her hero suit, because even tho she is a hero, she cant forget the feelings and thoughts she had when she saw her? Because it brings her comfort? Because she inspires her in such a strange way?

they've told me the gossip which is that a few years back a 70 yr old man collapsed the bridge at the end of my road by driving his tractor over it, lost his tractor in the river, climbed back up the cliff unscathed, walked an hour home, and then the whole road fell into disrepair and all the campgrounds closed and the once popular waterfall down the road became obscure and secret. so like, be the change you want to see in the world. collapse a bridge to chase out the tourists. also you can lose widespread knowledge in under 10 years if one old man collapses a bridge

also i met this bridge collapsing old man on a walk a few months ago and he said to me "you should check out the river at the end of the road, there's a tractor in it!" like he wasn't the one who put it there

I love how PISSED Izuku sounds when he yells "BOYFRIEND?!!? Wtf you talking about??" at Toga

Then the end where he scoffs at the second and is just like HURRY HURRY HURRY

It's in the details how stressed he is that he got derailed and separated, I knew these details were there but it just hits different when it's animated in front of me and you have his voice saying the words

I think people misunderstand "x fell first, y fell harder " trope because it's not about like the one who fell harder loves the other person harder. It's just that the one who fell first falls in a graceful way, one step at the time, maybe gradually over a span of time. The one who fell harder smashes trough the air, there's blood everywhere, everything is fine-

And old people use ellipses simply to indicate a pause, or for some other incomprehensible reason I’m not aware of. But young people use ellipses to indicate passive-aggression.

Headcanon: Kacchan puts henna where Izuku's freckles used to be, and it's not a very difficult task since he remembers exactly where each freckle used to be

Katsuki openly pining in front of his friends, saying he doesn't know what will happen now that he can't be Izuku's rival anymore because he wants to be with him and that was the only way he could think of to be by Izuku's side.

And Katsuki's eyes are full of so much longing that his friends kinda start figuring out what's actually going on and Kaminari says, mostly as a joke to lighten the mood:

"Well, if you want to be with him for the rest of your life, you could marry him!"

They all expect Katsuki to get angry, but he freezes and his eyes open wide like the most amazing secret of the universe has just been revealed to him.

And he grins in a way that makes his friends think he has gone mad.

"You're right! You're a genius, Dunce face!"

Now they're sure he has gone mad.

"It was a jo–"

"I can marry Izuku!"

"We're still in high-school!" Sero reminds him, slightly worried, but it's too late; Katsuki has run out of the room with the happiest smile on his face.

ok look im not saying that sakura haruka is canonically autistic (and sugishita which is why theyre Like That with each other jsyk) but i am saying these images are all stored in a folder on my phone named fightism. anyway here is my extremely well-developed and unbiased research based off every episode of the anime released thus far

also i didnt screenshot it but despite being the only one to miss suo's lies during his introduction sakura then proceeds to read his personality harder than anybody in the room during the whole kind gentleman thing which i find extremely hilarious and autistic also

How come no one's talking about this parallel? That time Bakugo let Deku fall and the time he caught him.

Someone described Katsuki’s thoughts on their future as this “catch and chase” esc game and I can’t stop thinking about catch-a-Kacchan now. The symbolism of that now is so telling with Katsuki’s new admission. Oh my god.

Like of course izuku could never catch Kacchan: that was the game. The hope that their rivalry and therefore their new found relationship could stay this way forever. He would never lose Izuku because they were always trying to catch each other—chase, grab, hold, let go, and chase again.

IT EVEN PUTS A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON KATSUKI’S PHRASING OF CALLING OFA A “CURSED POWER”

Honestly it almost feels like the end to this statement, one he never quite articulated to himself, and especially not to the world. Ofa gives power, ofa gives hope, and ofa ties itself to the people it interacts with. Ofa breathes the life into the game of their lives, catch and release.

Ofa may be a cursed power, but I just thought we’d be competing, and I’d be on your heels, for the rest of our lives…

Because ofa is the beacon that, on a very literal level, allows catch-a-Kacchan to exist. What do I do if I don’t have an excuse to be with you? What if I don’t deserve it?

AND THE NUMBER ONE RULE OF HOW KATSUKI ALWAYS WON CATCH-A-KACCHAN WAS THAT HE HAD TO TAP IZUKU ON THE BACK… HE HAD TO MANEUVER HIMSELF BEHIND IZUKU TO WIN…. WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME

And it’s such a small detail of symbolism, and idec if it’s purposeful, it’s just the fact that it exists at all that I love it so god damn much.

As Izuku tries to comfort him in the only way he really knows how (“well I still have the embers! It was a nice dream while it lasted! Please don’t cry you’re just overly sensitive right now, I’m sure you won’t feel this way later..”), and as Katsuki believes that the only way he’s allowed into Izuku’s life is this small glimpse into their rivalry—and, in spite of it all, allmight reminds them that they have changed.

The world, it has changed. The winds still blow high across the country, and we are reminded that the most important part of despair is the connection we have with each other. They are not just heroes, they are the greatest heroes—together.

The world will never be the same—and isn’t that the most beautiful part of it all? That we have changed, together?
