#mythology#myths#art#legends#slavic mythology#slavic#slavic folklore#py9y9ydoycpycd one of my favourite creators#o.o#anyway it's actually really funny how queer the slavic and also Lithuanian deities are#compared to how homophobic the Eastern European countries are#also Lithuania is super cool and interesting because it's mythology is so defined and oddly enough so different and distinct#i mostly don't focus on it much because it's closer to be being a whole different mythology#and my thing is slavic mythology mostly of the Bulgarian type since that's where I'm from#and in slavic mythology most gods has female and male forms and sometimes three forms with being young being the third sex#most famously perun is also perunika (spelled differently depending on the region) who is basically the same but has a rainbow belt#it also makes it complicated in marriages because Perun is sometimes both married to Dodola and also to her male form Dodolo#but then you have deities who aren't really either male or female married to one another like the pig deities#and this is really common#you've got predominantly female deities who are technically married to one another (but heterosexually according to most our sources)#Also the sun and the moon are married to each other and had this really dramatic shift#the sun went from being predominantly female to predominantly a male deity and the moon went from being male to female#however much later#so there's evidence (though like super shakey) that when when the two were predominantly male they were still worshipped as a married coupl#sorry for ranting#I'm really passionate about this stuff ^^"#anyway changing sex is pretty common in the myths#also rainbows are really magical in slavic myth and also associated with bears lol#rainbows were used to tell the future and also trans your gender lol
