Millenials - the generation growing up near 2000 and grown up no later than 2020. If you can't remember bittorrent, wikileaks, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, or Barack Obama, you're not a millenial. You don't have to remember myspace. Yes, a millenial is a millennial and neither are recognized as a noun, only as an adjective, so both are not even a word.

I had $11,400 saved up from working since 2021. I am 18. My parents just drained my entire debit card for “rent” what would you do?

It’s a police report

Instead of saying "Be a man" you should say "Be an adult".

I am profoundly grateful for your kind and considerate reply. Your willingness to reevaluate and subsequently delete your previous entry is most appreciated and speaks volumes about your magnanimity and graciousness. It is with a heart full of gratitude that I accept your generous apology, though I must reiterate that no offense was taken on my part.

Your understanding and willingness to engage in this respectful exchange have only deepened my respect and admiration for you. It is interactions such as these that reinforce the importance of mutual respect and understanding in all our communications. I am truly heartened by your response and look forward to continuing our dialogue in this spirit of mutual appreciation and regard.

Thank you once again for your thoughtfulness and kind words. May our future interactions be as respectful and enriching as this one has been.

Pardon me, esteemed individual, for addressing you at this moment. It appears that you have made an observation, specifically identifying me as the 'party pooper.' While I understand that this colloquial term is often employed to describe someone perceived as diminishing the enjoyment of an occasion, I must take a moment to provide some context and clarity regarding my actions and intentions.

It was never my intention to detract from the merriment or to impose a damper on the collective enthusiasm of this gathering. My behavior, which you have so keenly noted, stems from a place of genuine concern for the well-being and comfort of all present. Often, in the spirit of festivity, certain excesses or behaviors can lead to unintended consequences, and it is with this in mind that I might have acted in a manner perceived as cautious or reserved.

I humbly request that you consider the possibility that my actions are motivated by a desire to ensure that the joy of the occasion is sustained in a manner that is safe and enjoyable for everyone. I hold in high regard the collective spirit and shared happiness that such events bring, and I strive to contribute positively, even if my approach may occasionally differ from the more exuberant expressions of celebration.

Please accept my sincere apologies if my demeanor has caused any inconvenience or misinterpretation. I assure you that my intention is to enhance, not diminish, the overall experience for all attendees. I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your understanding and patience, and I hope that we can continue to enjoy this occasion together in a spirit of mutual respect and camaraderie.

Thank you for your consideration, and may the festivities continue with renewed vigor and joy. Good day."

I hope my addressing you in this manner does not cause any offense. I have observed certain behaviors and actions that, I must admit, have perturbed my sensibilities and caused me some degree of concern. It is in the spirit of mutual respect and with the utmost regard for your autonomy that I kindly implore you to consider adopting a demeanor and attitude that reflects a more mature and wise disposition, akin to that which one might expect from a sagacious and thoughtful person, irrespective of age or gender.

Please understand that my request comes from a place of genuine care and the desire to see you flourish in a manner that befits your inherent potential. I am confident that with a slight adjustment in perspective and conduct, you will undoubtedly exhibit the commendable qualities that I believe you possess in abundance.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your time and consideration in this matter. May your day be filled with enlightenment and growth. Thank you, and good day.

I don’t know much about the UK, but the greatest danger in the US to children is gang violence and the likelihood they start hanging around the wrong crowd that leads them to the influence of gangs.

The greatest threat for teenagers that can drive in the US is car accidents, our standards for driving are really low here.

The next greatest is from general accidents, usually stuff like drowning, jumping off cliffs, hitting head in a bike or skateboard wreck, etc…

Still, all of these threats are much less than what it was in previous decades and is getting lower every decade. But still gotta watch out for them.

There are roughly the same number of pedestrian deaths from cars in the 90s as there are today, and that’s despite a significantly larger population in the US. https://www.iihs.org/topics/fatality-statistics/detail/pedestrians

In the UK, pedestrian deaths from cars are down significantly https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/reported-road-casualties-great-britain-pedestrian-factsheet-2022/reported-road-casualties-in-great-britain-pedestrian-factsheet-2022

Every school has the ability to send out an emergency bulletin to all parents

It’s standard, common policy for schools to wait until the emergency is settled (as in a school shooting is over) before notifying parents.

Phone bans are nothing new, they’re plainly not enforceable, so they always go back on the ban. You’d have to strip search every kid to make sure they don’t have a phone in their pants. There’s 1 teacher for every 20-30 kids, it’s not hard to get your phone out when the teacher is not looking.

Republicans and democrats watch porn at the same rate. It doesn’t attack democrats directly. It is a part of a broader attack against the first amendment that would ultimately be used to suppress ‘the left’ if they got their way.

It helps them stay in power bc it’s them playing the culture war and it’s very effective in rural areas.

Banning porn has long been something religious conservatives have wanted to do. The Porn ID law originated as a boilerplate law from the Heritage Foundation, which has long called for porn bans and the regulation of porn https://www.heritage.org/marriage-and-family/report/postmortem-the-sexual-revolution-what-deregulation-pornography-has and gained momentum in other states after its successful passage in Louisiana.

There is no mechanism in any of these state governments that were created to track the IDs of the people that watch porn. The data can still be held out of state and there’s no agency or mechanism compelling the transfer of the data from the porn company to the state governments.

It’s a part of a broader attack on the first amendment and the separation of church and state that’s taking place with the far right orgs and federalist society.

And yes it still has to do with money as these types donate a lot to the politicians and their campaigns and they get a flood of money from the Koch brothers, Heritage Foundation, etc… when they play these games.

They can’t say it out loud, if they say it out loud that the intent of the law is to prevent access to adults then it would get shut down by the courts.

You’re a fool if you believe their lies.

The restrictions and penalties are harsh and are intentionally designed to cause porn sites to not be able to be operated legally. They are not designed with the intent of coercing compliance for some data collection reasons, as no sites are complying and even if they did, few people would upload their ID.

That’s not why they’re doing it, they’re doing it because they want to ban porn, but they cannot because of the first amendment. So they need to use a loophole to the first amendment that allows restrictions on the speech and access to information of children in order to also try and restrict access to adults and virtue signal to their far right religious base.

Phub is not “banned”, … Phub removed access themselves

This is a disingenuous comment, the state governments passed laws that made it impossible to profitably operate there and respect their user’s privacy. So mainstream porn sites are effectively banned, leaving less moderated sites that the state will never be able to shut down or sue to fill the void or people will use VPNs.

Would you rather have the power to stop time or the ability to turn invisible?

EVOSexyBeast
replied to Penya23

I think people underestimate the consequences of being able to stop time. If you had the ability to stop your aging while you move around in a world where time is stopped, you would feel pressure to keep time stopped as much as possible or delay the time until you die. You would likely feel lonely and disconnected from the world, existing on a different timeline relative to everyone else.

Is it illegal to lie about belonging to a group to get a job?

EVOSexyBeast
commented

In the United States, preference for hiring people based on whether or not they’re part of a protected class is illegal and is not common practice. I guess the law is different in Canada.

No, it is generally not illegal to lie to secure a job. However forging documents to back up your lie is. If a company never double checks your claim that’s on them.

There is no forwards are backwards. Perhaps there was an OOP buzz that resulted in some teams adopting it for their project when it was actually better suited for FP or vice versa.

But it all just depends on what you’re doing, in our case, OOP has been immensely helpful all around.

Colorblind toddler

It’s really not that big of a deal.

Most likely he’s deuteranomaly, you should find out which one he is.

Checkout COBLIS, an accurate colorblind simulator when you do find out the type of colorblindness he has https://www.color-blindness.com/coblis-color-blindness-simulator/

Of course if he’s one of the dozen or two people in the world who have monochromacy it’s a big deal. Otherwise, if it wasn’t for color typicals making a big deal out of colors we’d never even know.
