I love boiled egg in salads, but need suggestions for matching dressings?
I'd love to drown this in Ken's honey mustard, but I can't be chugging honey mustard every day.
I made a red wine honey Dijon vinaigrette on this, and it just didn't match.

Nice soft boil there. Well done...flavor. we put boiled eggs in almost all of our salads. Ceasar, oil and vinegar, bleu cheese usually work well.
Yes, a good bleu cheese !!
I love blue cheese on salad like this.
Great idea, bleu cheese.
Blue cheese all the way or a strong mustard vinaigrette to cut through the fatness off the yolk.
(Then add more fat with some crumbled bacon 🫣)
I am definitely not opposed to more bacon.
Dill Greek yogurt and lemon :)
Duh, yogurt is perfect, thanks!
This is one of my favorites as there's something about the pairing of dill with boiled eggs that's truly sublime
Happy cake day! Good suggestion!
I was thinking lemon too, but the dill is an absolutely perfect herb suggestion.
Try oil, red wine vinegar, smashed anchovies, a little dried mustard powder and minced garlic.
Anchovies, that sounds fun.
Japanese roasted sesame goes well with savory salads.
Nice, I definitely have some Kadoya on hand.
A tangy, light champagne vinaigrette!
Yeah I was def wishing I had more vinegar options on hand. Is there a huge use case difference in a white wine vs champagne vinegars?
Champagne is lighter and less acidic. Mellower. Pairs really well with herbs (fresh or dried).
Champange is fantastic..little goes a long way. I'd shoot for some kind of mustard vinegarette using champagne vin, garlic, evoo, lemon, and a yummy mustard. I'm not a mustard connoisseur to recommend one but I'm sure someone will. Yum.

Thisssss!
Maybe a homemade Caesar dressing…
3 oil-packed anchovy fillets
1 large garlic clove
¾ tsp. (or more) salt
1 large egg yolk
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
¾ tsp. dijon mustard
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
3 tbsp. parmesan
Blend and refrigerate after use. This will usually make about a cup of dressing. Sometimes I add a bit of water to change its consistency. I’ve also tried adding Greek yogurt and it was pretty good, it changed up the flavor profile a bit.
I’ve been making a tahini Caesar recently and it’s to die for - highly recommend as a switch up.
Oh! That’s a great idea. I’ve brainstorming different ways to change up the recipe, so I appreciate the suggestion. This week I added basil, pine nuts and parsley with aglio olio seasoning from Trader Joe’s.
Thanks so much. Anchovies would be a brand new ingredient for me but I'm up for the challenge.
Use mayo instead of oil and egg.
Mayo is just an emulsion of oil, egg whites and acid. It definitely tastes better when you make the dressing with fresh ingredients as opposed to using store bought mayo, but if you don’t have an egg, oil and lemon juice then store bought mayo would be the route to go.
I use Mayo because I’m neurotic and paranoid about salmonella.
Ha, totally understandable!
What about an avocado-cilantro? I don’t have a recipe handy, but that creamy style seems like it would match nicely.
French Dressing or Thousand Island pairs well with eggs in salads IMO ( also dig the honey mustard :))
I like French dressing with my salads that have egg. It’s delicious!
I’d say ranch or bleu cheese. Looks really good too!
Yes and add some chopped bacon.
With something like this I usually do a white wine vinegar or lemon base, something acidic with a touch of olive oil a little mustard (dijon) salt pepper maybe some Italian seasoning
poppy seed, avocado ranch
This is my favorite dressing, goes so well with eggs. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/green-salad-vinaigrette-12125967
Also, Dijon with mayo and water - “oef mayonnaise” is a common dish in France
Nice, thanks for sharing.
Eggs in a salad makes me think of Thousand Island dressing.
For sure, I'm trying to get away from the heavy mayo dressings, but yes that sounds delicious.
Try making some with plain yogurt. It's not bad!
There we go, I always forget about yogurt.
I always worry about using yogurt and then I generally end liking whatever I make with it.
I usually use a Greek yoghurt + whole seed mustard+ lemon juice + salt and pepper on my salads. Goes well with almost everything
Ranch, Blue Cheese, Catalina, French
Homemade creamy vinaigrette
That sounds great!
Now drop a recipe so we all can enjoy 😉
Just a basic vinaigrette 3 T EVOO 2 T vinegar any will work. I like apple cider or white wine vinegar. You can add some Italian spices if you want to make it creamy Italian vinaigrette. And then just add whatever you have on hand a couple tablespoons of Greek yogurt or mayo or sour cream. Salt and pepper and mix. Enjoy
Call me old fashioned but I like thousand island on salads that have boiled eggs
Plenty of goody on here. Does it need a dressing? Put some dried dill on top instead would bring the flavor you’re looking for.
Ranch
Late to the party but try Kewpie (it’s a sesame seed mayonnaise type sauce) great on all types of salad!
I make a balsamic vinaigrette for mine. EVOO, balsamic, garlic, honey, s&p. Done. Love it on salads with eggs.
jalapeño ranch!
Whole Foods sells Cava’s Yogurt Dill dressing. It’s wonderful on everything. Eggs and dill are a great combo.
Traders joes cauliflower ranch.
Homemade yogurt dressings 1) Honey mustard: yogurt, honey, dijon, pepper, garlic, salt. 2) Caesar: yogurt, lemon, Worcestershire, parm, dijon, salt, pepper, garlic. 3) Tahini: yogurt, lemon, tahini, whatever spices you want.
Ken's Light Honey Mustard would be my go to every day. 😅 That, or Ranch.
Honey mustard!
Try the bolthouse farms honey mustard dressing! I used to love Ken’s but I started counting calories and I switched to that one, tastes just as good
I love hard boil eggs in my salad and I constantly get cobb salad whenever I am out.
Annie's Organic Green Goddess dressing, or a tahini dressing would go well with your salad. It looks delicious, btw.
https://themodernproper.com/tahini-dressing
French is good with egg too...
Green Goddess!! I actually love Panera’s and they have their recipe on their site.
This miso one is good https://www.bakedbymelissa.com/blog/savory-recipes/miso-vinaigrette
ranch and cheddar instead of parm.
Try Oil of your choice + Ponzu. Little more Ponzu than oil. It’s a citrus vinegar and entirely under appreciated.
A rich/bold olive oil with a balsamic vinegar glaze, squeeze half of a lemon 🍋, try it 😋
Balsamic or a nice vinegar and olive oil, dry herbs of your choosing.
Blue cheese, or roquefort dressing is amazing
Yummy
blue cheese dressing. YVW!
A few drops of rice vinegar, apple cider vinegar, or red wine vinegar. That’s it.
A simple dijon is my favorite!
Something with dill or horseradish maybe? I’m just thinking about ingredients in fancy hard boiled eggs. If it’s gross, don’t blame me. 🤣
Sounds good to me, I'll add it to the list.
Olive oil oregano aged balsamic vinegar and capers
I've never used capers before in my life. What does it add, like a pickled taste?
They are salty so go light. Taste vinegary and floral
Thousand island!!! I do not eat a thousand without boiled egg. Ranch is fine too.
Home made balsamic vinaigrette
I like the Vidalia onion dressing! Or if you want to get crazy the makoto ginger dressing, but I put that shid on everything
Lemon poppy seed and ginger are both good.
Spicy yoghurt dressing
I like Thousand Island or Blue Cheese on salads with eggs. They are as calorie heavy as the honey mustard, unfortunately.
Honey balsamic, green goddess
Balsamic vinaigrette or blue cheese
Honey mustard would work well
Blush wine vinaigrette
Bro I've never heard of blush wine vinegar. Damn how many vinegars do I have to get!
Collect the whole set! Ya idk how vinegar forward your Dijon is but a little splash goes well with everything on your plate whenever I have it. Slightly sweet. I also sometimes skip the middle man and just use pickled eggs, but then I add a base like aioli. Maybe just cut your vinegrette with some mayonnaise 🤷🏻♂️
Ugh mayo seems the only way out. Eggs love mayo, ya know? I hoped I could just vinaigrette my way out of this, but obviously not.
This is my prompt to make my own mayo. Huzzah!
Lol, good luck! I’ve got some ducks and been threatening to attempt duck egg mayo but low on priority list still lol
Harris Teeter has this black pepper Parmesan dressing that’s incredible! I’m not sure of the brand but it was always in the salad bar.
Ken's steakhouse Raspberry Vinaigrette, Ken's steakhouse Italian or Ken's steakhouse Balsamic
Lemon juice - Dijon - a little honey - olive oil
Rocket?
Yes but it's called baby arugula over here. I love it.
I love eggs in salad! Catalina is great or Zesty Italian/Oil and Vinegar (or Olive Garden).
I’d go with a red such as
Western
Catalina
This interacts with the salt and pepper eggs, etc
I really like garlic vinegarette... Mix olive oil, white wine vinegar, fresh garlic and s&p to taste... My favorite! 😍
I know this isn’t what you asked, but have you tried grating the hard boiled egg? I just tried it tonight on my salad and I feel like it takes it to the next level. It mixes in with the dressing and you end up with eggy goodness with each bite. Highly recommend
I've never tried that, but now I will. Thanks dude
My pleasure. I had to spread the word because I was truly shocked at how incredible it turned out. Enjoy!
I'm hesitant about my soft yolks, but if they are cold enough it should be fine right? Are you talking microplane or just straight up cheese grater?
I will admit that I had mine hard boiled with a hard yolk. I used the smaller size on a box cheese grater. I think a microplane might be too fine. I think you should be fine as long as you have them nice and cold.
Raspberry or strawberry vinegary,Would be delicious! Also add bacon or blue cheese.🤌
Stop being so fancy, y'all, and throw some western dressing in that.
I haven't seen that here, but Google says it's like French or Catalina, is that right? Sounds good to me, I'll try it.
Western has a bit more of a tang, but French is pretty close, and I don't know if I've had Catalina.
It is so strange that it isn't stocked at stores in my area but is available online. Now I wanna try it, what are they hiding from me? Must be a regional thing?
I'm not quite sure, but when I was a kid at restaurants, I'd order Western and they'd look at me like, 'What?' So then my parents would say, 'French is fine." But I wasn't fine, so that's when I started using French and Ranch, and that's a kinda like it, but it's still not lol
Thousand island has that little sweet you might like.
Bleu for sure, but I HIGHLY suggest using your blender to make a nice carrot/ginger dressing. Then you can marinate the eggs in soy and some other things and make ajitama for a nice Japanese twist! Goes well with some shelled edamame
Herb vinaigrette
I use the avocado lime ranch
I'm color dying eggs tonight for Easter and plan on having too many boiled eggs, so thank you, this looks like lunch tomorrow! (they probably won't turn out as nicely soft boiled and might taste like vinegar, but I'll live with it)
Ive recently gotten into making Niçoise salads and the dressing goes super well with the combination of eggs, crunchy blanched green beans, and soft potatoes. Its just a vinaigrette made with evoo, lemon, shallot, dijon, whole grain mustard, salt and pepper.
Please say more, that sounds crazy good. Eggs, green beans, potatoes, what else?
Canned tuna, capers, tomatoes, kalamata olives, and red onion/more shallots too! Its so good!
I have these things. Yuck on the olives but I'm making this for sure.
Bleu cheese, ranch, thousand island, French, Catalina.
Only olive oil and lemon
Try a mild vinaigrette maybe red
Poppy seed!
I do a basic lemon Dijon vinaigrette for salads like this. Lemon juice, olive oil, salt & pepper, Dijon, and a little honey (if you want a bit of sweetness to round it out). Also like some said, this would also be great with Caesar.
Raspberry vinaigrette!
Try a brown derby dressing!
I do straight red wine vinegar - love the tart. I just put the eggs in after I put the vinegar on everything and toss it.
Green Goddess, specifically from sweetgreen. Spicy cashew dressing, also from sweetgreen. Balsamic would also be yummy, or maybe a light drizzle of caesar?
Green Goddess is lovely.
I like mustardt vinaigrettes with eggs! Mustard + hard boiled egg is a common snack in eastern euro.
shallot
garlic
Dijon or whole grain mustard
olive oil
lemon juice
sherry vinegar (or red wine)
salt and pepper
Dijon vinaigrette
I use a honey mustard dressing that I make myself - half cup mayo (of your choosing, so you can control fat/calories/weird ingredients, etc), quarter cup honey, 2 tablespoons Grey Poupon. I measure out two tablespoons when I put it on a salad (because it would be too easy to go nuts with it). It's definitely enough flavor when you drizzle it lightly all over.
Hear me out: olive oil, white vinegar, salt, Dijon mustard (bonus points for whole grain Dijon, Trader Joe’s has one I like), nutritional yeast, miso paste, a little soy sauce. Just heavenly
Thousand Island. But I put that on basically everything, I might have a problem. That looks like an awesome salad well done!
