What we’re about
We are Boston's number one group for hiking, skiing, biking, snowboarding, and more. We have no cliquey events where only the regulars always get chosen, and every event starts with carpool so nobody is left behind. We are the most inclusive group in Boston for hiking, skiing, biking, snowboarding, and other outdoor adventures.
Our group is about the democratization of the outdoors, so you can be the adventure spark without having to go through layers of the usual Meetup hierarchy.
Do you want to get out and go skiing but don’t have a ride? We’ve got your back. Have you been dreaming about surfing but can’t make it out to California? We know a secret spot to paddle out, and its way closer than you think. Ridj-it has helped bring hundreds of people from the creature comforts of Boston out to adventures of a lifetime all around New England. Pick one of our trips or design your own; we’ll sort out the details. Your ride is outside. What are you waiting for?
Ridj-it has taken over 1,000 cars off the road, and through connecting those without cars with those who have one, we've helped adventurers host over 500+ events in just a year. Is there a mountain you've always wanted to hike?
Drivers and riders can post adventures from Boston. Our events include people from Meetup, Facebook, Couch Surfers, and others, so we're more than your typical Boston Meetup group.
Why do we carpool? We found most other outdoor Meetups were leaving younger residents, people of color, and immigrants behind. By linking our trips to carpool, we make sure everyone has to work together as a team in order to go on events. Many of our hosts don't have cars, and we're proud to have a space where outdoor enthusiasts can slowly democratize access to New England's beautiful mountains, rivers, and beaches.

If you haven't planned your day pack, please remember that it's still early season and it's windy up there. Please pack properly: https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/day-hiking-checklist.html#Day_Hikes_2_Plus_HoursBe sure to pack enough food and water for the hike. I'll ask at the trailhead as to what you've packed. Please, no jeans or sneakers - it's rocky at the top, so do come prepared with cold-weather gear.
For those who are carpooling, please ensure that your profile is up to date and your phone # on the website is correct. Please arrive on time at the meeting point.
We're going to meet at the trailhead - where there's restrooms.
For the non-carpoolers, please be at the trailhead around 9am. We'll take a quick break, gear-check, water station fill-up and get going.Depending on how people are feeling, we'll stop for food and drink on the way back.

My tentative plan is to go Tuesday June 25th and return Monday July 1st. I will drive up on Tuesday to Parc de la Mauricie, spend the night camping there, and then do a fun hiking/kayaking trip the next day to Waber Falls and back. I will then leave the park and make a 2 hour drive to Montreal (maybe stopping to see Shawinigan Falls on the way).I will then spend four days in Montreal. During that time, I will be staying at a hostel TBD. During the day, I wish to do a combination of sightseeing and outdoor sports in and near the city. Options include:
* Hiking Mt. Royal
* Biking on the Iles de Boucherville
* Hiking in the Gault Reserve
* Hiking/Biking in Mt. Tremblant National ParkAnd as for sightseeing, we could go to the Fine Arts Museum, the Botanical Garden, the Biodome, the Old Town Port, the Olympic Village and so on-- no shortage of options! We'll also check out some good farmers' markets like Marche Jean-Talon, Marche Atwater and more.
Plus, did I mention the JAZZ FESTIVAL is happening that week??? We can see free shows outdoors every evening, plus there are a handful of indoor ticketed ones (I have mine for Keyon Harrold on June 29th, other options abound).
So, all in all, a grand time is guaranteed for all on this trip! When booking, please let me know what sort of travel/hostel/sightseeing preferences you have, and I will do my best to accommodate you. À bientôt!
