Happy Birthday to us! It feels like just a moment ago, yet 18 incredible years have passed since we pressed play to our Spotify platform. Over these years, we have achieved quite a lot and hit many milestones – achievements that certainly would not have been possible without the creativity of our talented bandmates and the loyalty of our listeners. So, a huge thank you to each and every one of you. Let's keep making some noise! 💚 #lifeatspotify

My first memory of using Spotify was when I travelled to San Fransisco from London and I showed off the concept of streaming music to my friend in the US (where -if memory serves- Spotify wasn’t available at the time). He was so impressed that he refused to log out of my Spotify account upon my return to Europe. He even created playlists and saved music to my account. I had to change the password to claim the account back. This was a rocky era in our friendship. We have been able to make up since Spotify launched in the US. 😁 Happy birthday from all your friends at Khoros.

Hey Spotify, now that you’re no longer a minor, are you allowed to break open the piggy bank for artists? Without them, you have nothing, and pretty sure the pennies in there can’t be cut into tenths!

On average, it takes 1 millions streams for an artist to earn $4,000, which is roughly $0.004 per stream. Meanwhile, they recently announced record profits of nearly $1.1bn after a year of cutting costs and laying off staff. Good for users? Sure. Good for investors and owners? Absolutely. Good for artists? That’s complicated. Artists do appreciate the platform as a chance to get their music heard, but it’s hardly fair compensation for the value artists bring to Spotify. True, much revenue comes from podcasting deals with major labels and influencers. But artists still drive most of the volume for Spotify. It’s great to celebrate a great product that has figured out how to be profitable, but just wanted to add some perspective so we aren’t beating the drum too hard.

Thank you that you are. Without Spotify, we artists with small budget, would have no chance of stepping out of obscurity onto the world stage. Happy Birthday KrisztinaHB and LaszloB https://open.spotify.com/artist/2FzDEn8dFwi74Mnbu9I6dr?si=NgBLiFlbRaaReGA21Zu73A

i was sponsored by you guys in 1 year, of my 18 year old music career on Spotify too, with 870.000.000 on my Nico & Vince - Am I Wrong hit and 680.000.000 on Tiesto - The Business where I sing. But I "made it", uppend my game to it being a "Career", made music with my HERO B-Real. Can`t really ask all your dreams to come true and expect them to do, but I made that too !! :D Now I need a manager, [email protected] you can reach me there.

Maybe a good way to celebrate would be by paying independent artists a fair wage! I mean, they do make up most of your whole platform!
