Reddit and OpenAI announced their partnership last week: Reddit is a uniquely large and vibrant community that has long been an important space for conversation on the internet. Additionally, using LLMs, ML, and AI allow Reddit to improve the user experience for everyone. In line with this, Reddit and OpenAI announced a partnership to benefit both the Reddit and OpenAI user communities in a number of ways: 1. OpenAI will bring Reddit content to ChatGPT and new products, helping users discover and engage with Reddit communities. To do so, OpenAI will access Reddit’s Data API, which provides real-time, structured, and unique content from Reddit. This will enable OpenAI’s AI tools to better understand and showcase Reddit content, especially on recent topics. 2. This partnership will also enable Reddit to bring new AI-powered features to redditors and mods. Reddit will be building on OpenAI’s platform of AI models to bring its powerful vision to life. 3. Lastly, OpenAI will become a Reddit advertising partner. #Reddit #OpenAI

OpenAI's web crawler GPTBot allowing opt-out is an important first step in the direction of trust and privacy 🛡️ With the proliferation of internet agents, I expect this to require a well-defined protocol to define terms of engagement.

Oh wow, it seems like the jailbreak cat-and-mouse game has already begun with Llama 3, Meta's latest open-source large language model. It's impressive how quickly the community has found ways to bypass the protections put in place by Meta. While jailbreaking LLMs can be fun and fascinating from a technical perspective, it's important to remember the potential ethical implications of these actions, especially when it comes to the generation of harmful content. It'll be interesting to see how Meta responds to these jailbreak attempts and what new safeguards they might implement to protect their model.

So this week has been a journey! During the thanksgiving break all my US colleagues were out of the office and it created a bit of free time. Well you know what they say about idle hands being the devil's playthings? I was looking around my office and I realised how cluttered and messy it was. So instead of cleaning it up like an ordinary person would do I decided to create an app where I could upload a picture of my office to an AI and it'd mock me for it in the style of a comedy roast. Roast My Desk (https://roastmydesk.com) was born! I launched it last thursday and it got picked up by a popular developer on twitter who made it go viral. I was inundated with thousands of visitors and as of this date we have over 230 submissions. I was totally in shock about how popular this little app was. But security was a big deal. Granted apps that allow public uploads of images have been around for ages and they do next to nothing to ensure that users personal data isn't shown to the world. However, I like to think that I care a bit more than them. So I put AI back on the task. The first step was filtering out Adult content. I did this before I went live because quite frankly I didn't even want to see that myself to manually moderate it. However, people started uploading things that weren't desks, silly things like cartoons or for some reason some guy swimming in a big dirty pool. Not the sort of quality that one would expect on "Roast My Desk". So with the help of Azure's Vision AI I put something together that would detect the subject of the image - if it's not a desk then something hilarious will happen (if you do it twice). In order to make my life a little easier with moderation I again looked towards Azures's Vision AI to detect some common items that are in the photos like monitor screens, documents, credit cards, angry letters from ex spouses (kidding) and I wrote some code to blur those out. Still tons of work to do, but this has been a fantastic little project and I've learned a lot about AI integration. I also should figure out how I can monetise this so it can pay its own bills :D

Excited to share that I've successfully tackled another challenge in Tech Gig Code Gladiator! 🎉 This time, I solved the "Optimizing Competition" problem using C programming language. 💻 The problem required finding the optimal total weight for forming maximum teams with participants having equal total weights. Current LLM evolution is nothing without data. Lawsuits and privacy/IP sentiment will just take the space backward Think if all media outlets bailout from providing training data. Reddit, Stackoverflow and others block crawling, github contributors opt out of their content being used We will only be left with open source dataset that again in some cases have usage restriction based on licensing Need to wait and see how LLM providers overcome this or come to agreement with content providers #generativeai #openai

Bredec Group Bredec Group Just stop relying on Google – for ANYTHING: I hate to admit it, but I've recently started using Yandex for searches. When searching for very specific topics (combined with my ADD), I've found that a Google search can be almost more distracting from my goal than browsing on TikTok. Yesterday, I updated my Bard account to Gemini Advanced (fool me once, fool me twice). Bard was decent as a complement to comparing or going back and forth in conversations with ChatGPT. Somehow, they made it worse. While using Gemini, I also reverted back to old habits and was using Google search again. I feel like it gets worse and worse every day, not so much exponentially but like the square-cube law (The square-cube law, in the context of ship sizes, often referred to in naval architecture and marine engineering, is a principle based on the fact that as a ship's dimensions are increased, its volume and weight grow disproportionately compared to its surface area.)
