Whether you’re a basketball fan or just a content fiend, take a minute to scroll through March Madness Women’s Basketball social channels for some content inspiration. There’s definitely a built-in social aspect and virality to the tournament. With the star-studded teams and cinderella stories, sometimes posts just write themselves. But what I love about their approach this year is their ability to weave game times, stats, player stories, wow-factor plays, and hilarious edits to keep posts entertaining and informative. There are a lot of new fans this year, so it was important to not lean too far into basketball IQ. They NAILED IT this year. If you’re relying too much on informing or educating your audience with text only, link, or heavy graphic designed posts, give one of these posts styles a shot (maybe pun intended) to tie in some entertainment into your content strategy.

OPPORTUNITIES LOST - CONTROL - EQUAL PAY - BIAS IN WOMEN'S SPORTS The The Wall Street Journal published an article on April 10 highlighting the disparities women face as they outperform men as individuals and as a group. Title IX cannot control the following: 1. The women's final drew more viewers than the men's final - a first. 2. The women's final drew more viewers DESPITE not being held prime time - their game was Sunday afternoon while the men had a Monday night prime time airing. 3. The women drew the coverage DESPITE the NCAA's deal with ESPN of only $6.5 million as compared to the men's $873 million. AND you have to understand that $6.5M is spread over 40 different women's sports while the $873 million for men's basketball ONLY. But girls and women we can REJOICE - the NCAA did a new deal while headed to March Madness - they inked a deal for $115M for women but it is still shared over 40 different women's sports. Women lose opportunities daily that they don't know about because they don't control those with control or even have access to them. Women are impacted financially as well as opportunities for career advancement and skills acquisition. Many men likely don't appreciate the statistics given above. However, women and girls now have women's brackets for March Madness in the office and at school. Females make up 50% of the population. Women/Girls also spend money - e.g., #Swifties impacting local economies. Too bad the control freaks don't follow the money of women! Thank you The Wall Street Journal and journalists Rachel Bachman and Isabella Simonetti for the #FrontPage reporting on this issue. #ImplicitBias #BlindSpots #FemaleOpportunities #WomenLeaders #WomenIcons #Disparity #WomensMarchMadness #FollowTheMoney #TitleIX

Finance Professor * C-Level Executive * Advocate for Women * Keynote Speaker * Wife and Mom of Teen Boys
I have long advocated for the importance of sports, especially for women, as additive to the educational experience and a key teacher of life skills that are valuable long after the athlete hangs up her uniform. I have also spoken out about the need to invest in women's sports and the importance of media access to view women's sports. This NCAA / ESPN deal is a great step in that direction. https://lnkd.in/emSR3W9C #womeninsports #titleix
