Google Cloud announced new capabilities in Vertex AI Search for healthcare and life sciences organizations that enable medically-tuned gen AI powered search on a broad spectrum of data including clinical sources, such as FHIR data and clinical notes. The announcement of these new features has attracted the attention of many writers in the business press and trade press, eg Forbes, CNBC and Infoworld. There is no doubt that these new capabilities are powerful and should in the long run assist clinicians. The trick will be to weave them into existing clinical workflows without adding new tasks to already overburdened clinicians. Change management and training will be essential here.
