There are still a few days to make twice the impact with a monthly gift to Free to Run! Donating monthly is a fantastic way to make a deep impact in our work to advance gender equity, as it creates a sustainable base of funding for our programs, and allows you to break up your donation into smaller monthly gifts. Plus, even a small amount each month can go a long way. That makes it great for your budget and ours! For example: $7 provides a week’s worth of water and nutrition for a runner at training sessions $15 covers entry into an event like the Erbil Marathon, which our teams spend months training for $25 provides a runner with their team gear, like a running tee and hat $33 allows three young women to attend an annual camping trip in Iraq - for many, this is their first night away from home $79 enables an Iraqi girl to attend our running and leadership program for a full month $115 gives a group of young women a week of secret, indoor strength and resilience training in Afghanistan Set up your gift by May 19 to have it matched by On until the end of the year - for every $1 you donate, On will do the same. https://lnkd.in/gjGJa7jH Thank you to every generous person who is already part of our movement for global gender equity! The International Day of Charity is observed on September 5th every year. This day was designated by the United Nations to promote and raise awareness about the importance of charitable activities and philanthropy around the world. The date of September 5th was chosen to commemorate the anniversary of the passing away of Mother Teresa, who dedicated her life to charitable work and helping the less fortunate. The main objectives of the International Day of Charity include: Promoting Charitable Efforts: The day encourages individuals, organizations, and governments to engage in acts of charity and philanthropy. It aims to inspire people to contribute to various causes and make a positive impact on the lives of those in need. Raising Awareness: The day serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about the significance of charitable work in addressing various social issues, such as poverty, hunger, healthcare, education, and disaster relief. Encouraging Solidarity: Charity is not just about providing financial assistance; it's also about showing empathy, compassion, and solidarity with those who are less fortunate. The International Day of Charity encourages people to connect with and support marginalized communities. Highlighting Sustainable Development Goals: The observance of this day aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals include ending poverty, ensuring good health and well-being, providing quality education, and promoting gender equality, among others. Charitable efforts play a crucial role in advancing these goals. Recognizing Individuals and Organizations: The day acknowledges the contributions of individuals, organizations, and institutions that are actively involved in charitable activities. It's a way to celebrate their efforts and inspire others to get involved. On the #InternationalDayofCharity, various events, campaigns, and initiatives are organized globally to encourage people to donate their time, resources, and expertise to support charitable causes. Whether through monetary donations, volunteering, or advocacy, the day encourages everyone to contribute in their own way to create positive change in the world.

Charity: water - Giving Water, Giving Life 💦 charity: water is a NGO dedicated to solving one of the world's most critical problems - the lack of clean drinking water. Founded in 2006 by Scott Harrison, Charity Water operates on a 100% model, where every dollar donated goes to fund water projects and operational costs are covered by individual donors. The organisation's core mission is to ensure that everyone on the planet has access to clean water. Charity: water does this through a range of projects, including the construction of wells, rainwater harvesting systems and water purification filters. They work in several countries around the world, particularly in Africa where the problem of access to clean water is particularly acute. What makes Charity: water unique is not only its financial model, but also its transparency and accountability. They use GPS coordinates to track each project, giving donors accurate data on how their contribution is being used. This organisation also actively involves the public in its activities, offering a variety of ways to get involved, from donating to organising fundraising events. Their creative approach to fundraising includes campaigns such as asking people to celebrate their birthdays by fundraising instead of receiving gifts. 💧 Charity: water has made a significant impact on the lives of many by providing access to clean water for millions of people. Their work not only helps to improve health and hygiene in local communities, but also contributes to better education, economic growth and gender equality, as clean water has a direct impact on these aspects of life. Working together makes a difference to people's lives #charitywater #water #charity #cleanwater #philanthropy

𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝! As professionals, we can create an impactful difference by giving back through charity. Our skills, resources, and influence can positively transform lives and uplift communities. Volunteering in giving back to society for the upliftment of the underprivileged is a cause which Expertlancing Research Services roots in. We conducted our second quarter CSR activity last week. The cause is not just a process for us but something we hold close to our hearts. Even a small contribution towards this cause has a big impact. Understanding that society needs to come to par with the rest to flourish is an important aspect of our CSR activities. #lifelonglearning #equality #CSR Our team of Experts visited Aravindam India Gurukul (Aravindam Foundation) to lend a hand and heart to children belonging to less privileged sections of our society. The Foundation enhances the educational and financial prospects of underserved children and women. Our team had the honor to spend time with the occupants of the institute. We are committed to giving back to the communities where we operate, and this was a great opportunity to make a difference. #NGO #socialresponsibility #sustainability #education #awareness #developing #socialimpact #community #givingback #humanrights #charity #SDGs #engagement #womenempowerment #futureminds

The theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress. At Juno we have seen the incredible potential that arises when we invest in women and ensure they have access to support and resources. In our EMPower program, women who have experienced homelessness and family violence receive coaching with a focus on economic empowerment. Through a combination of individually tailored coaching and group programs, women in the program have achieved incredible transformations including a median savings increase of 329%, a 46% increase in median income and 100% of participants living above the poverty line after 24 months in the program. We have seen first-hand how investing in women’s economic empowerment programs has significant flow-on benefits to her sense of safety, autonomy, as well as her family and community. This is the way forward. If you're keen to invest in women this International Women's Day, why not make a donation to Juno? Here’s what a monthly donation could fund: 🏠 $25 a month could buy essential items like groceries, pots and pans or bedlinen for the home of a family that has experienced homelessness. 📙 $50 a month could fund textbooks, uniforms and equipment for someone starting out in a new job and building a better life for themselves and their children. 🎓 $100 a month could cover a job coaching sessions that support a woman who has experienced violence to forge a new path in life and feel hopeful about the future. Being able to count on ongoing support is so critical. It means we can plan ahead and respond to emerging needs in the community without delay. With International Women's Day around the corner, will you make a regular commitment to improve the lives of women and non-binary people who have experienced homelessness and family violence? https://lnkd.in/g7Db9Jk3

Only 35% of #ceos in the largest charities in the #uk are led by women, whilst male trustees outnumbered female ones by more than double, all of this despite the fact that women make up 68% of the charity sector's employees and are more likely to donate; according to a recent report on #women in the #charitysector by Pro Bono Economics. As you would expect, the report also highlights the #genderimbalance between those seeking the services of charities, with women seeking more support; it also highlights that the negative effects of male dominance in the highest positions, are felt more acutely by #womenofcolour, #disabled women, and women in the #lgbtqia community. Reading this article reminded me of the experience that Karis Gill had, where she and her male business partner, attended a meeting where the guy they were talking to kept assuming that she was just there to take notes, and assumed she was not part of the strategic-level decision making that was meant to be taking place. So, what can I do? Most of these numbers I cannot impact, as I do not have the seniority. BUT, what I can do is support women of colour, disabled women, and women in the LGBTQIA community, by organising St Andrew's First Aid volunteers to go to their groups and their communities, and deliver #firstaid talks and demonstrations. This costs nothing. First aid has the amazing ability to empower people, to give them confidence, and to give them some independence and self-reliance. If you are a member of one of the above #communities and are based in #scotland, reach out to me and lets organise something. What I can do, I will do. https://lnkd.in/ema_NjBg

Women and the charity sector New report from Pro Bono Economics finds that less than a third (32) of the top 100 UK charities by income are led by women and that there is an "often-undiscussed gender imbalance" in the charity sector, with so many decisions made by men - as funders, trustees, chairs and CEOs of the largest charities. "Making the charity sector a better place for women to work, volunteer and lead is not just a women’s issue. It is about building a sector that is even better at meeting the needs of its services users, which should matter to everyone. It is about unlocking more of the potential of women at all stages of their lives, which should matter to everyone. And, of course, it is about fairness and equity, which should matter to everyone too." The report also found that women are more likely to give to charity than men. In 2022, 72% of women gave money to charitable causes in the previous month, versus 61% of men. https://lnkd.in/erSN4a5N
