I've often had patients tell me they feel "just fine" with 4-5 hours of sleep a night. While there is some genetic variation in how much sleep individuals need, there are very few—if any—people who can maintain optimal health with this amount of sleep. This is supported by this recent study that found that getting less than 5 hours of sleep later in life was linked to a 20% greater chance of being diagnosed with a single chronic disease and a 40% greater chance of being diagnosed with two or more chronic diseases. Check out my article with 8 tips on how to improve your sleep if this is an issue for you: https://bit.ly/3kZzYAq #insomnia #sleephealth #chronicillness #sleep #optimalhealth

HOPS || Natural support for sleep Clinical evidence indicates that hops is effective as a sleeping aid when used with valerian. 🌿 A systematic review of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) found that supplementation with hops and valerian combined improved at least one sleep parameter, often sleep latency and sleep quality, in patients with primary insomnia. 🌿 An RCT investigating the effects of hops and valerian combination on sleep parameters revealed that supplementation with hops and valerian improved sleep quality and duration after single dose administration. Recommended dosage: Hops extract (flowers or strobiles) 500 mg - 3 g at night before bed. Effects can be seen after one dose, however, it is traditionally used over multiple nights for best effects. 👉 For a full evidence-based list of key nutrients and herbs to support sleep and mental wellbeing, check out Dr Lesley Braun's Mental Wellbeing book here: https://brnw.ch/21wH7Dl #NervousSystem #MentalHealth #Hops #ComplementaryMedicine #EvidenceBased

https://lnkd.in/gEDvsMgV. Why is night sleep important than day sleep? Throughout the night, your heart rate, breathing rate and blood pressure rise and fall, a process that may be important for cardiovascular health. Your body releases hormones during sleep that help repair cells and control the body's use of energy. These hormone changes can affect your body weight. say no to #nightshift #nightshifts #usshift
