Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Youth & Community Manager | Over 16 Years’ Experience | Dip. in Community & Youth Studies
This event really has me thinking (and hurting) about how society views our young people and the levels of support for not just them but there families and our communities. Hidden Harm the effects of parental substance misuse on and across the life of a child are deep and weighty, and responses are often disjointed among the Caring professions. And the view of the child and supports often diminishing as the child grows If you could see the impact before there born, Would you try to prevent it? If you could see the weight a child carrys before the age of 4, Would you help them carry there bag 🎒 If you could see the hurts and burden of complex trauma and the missed freedoms and fun. Would you want to mind and nurture them. 🫂 When you see young adults engage in antisocial behaviours, criminality, domestic violence, abusive relationships and alcolism and drug talking, Do you see the 12 year old the 8 year old the 4 year old stories toooo. All Behaviour tells a story, lets hear there stories and support them into a brighter future.
We are so excited! We've had a huge response to our National Conference on the very important theme of Hidden Harm - We are fully booked out in person and online 😃

Transform your funding journey and schedule your FREE consultation today! Schedule your appointment here: https://lnkd.in/gGjSeWaX Introducing The Sailor Justice Project In a world where resources often remain out of reach for marginalized communities, The Sailor Justice Project stands tall with a unique mission - to utilize grant writing as a potent tool for social justice. Our mission is clear: "To use Grant Writing as my Social Justice Quirk." Through this, we envision a brighter future where businesses, particularly those championing social justice causes, can thrive and contribute to economic growth. Our vision? "To increase access to equitable funding for businesses at the intersection of social justice and economic growth through grant writing, grant education, and global community building." But why was this project founded? At the heart of it all, we recognized the transformative power of equitable funding. We saw the potential for grants to bridge the chasm of economic disparity and the opportunity to foster global communities that understand and support each other's causes. And as we work towards this vision, we live by our values: Social, Economical, and Racial Justice - Our foundation. We demand a world where everyone, regardless of their background, is treated fairly and has equal opportunities. Global Inclusion and Belonging - We create spaces where everyone feels they belong, transcending borders and cultural divides. Human Rights Advocacy - Our commitment to championing the rights of all, ensuring that every voice is heard and respected. Language Equity - 우리는 언어의 평등을 믿습니다. We believe in the power of words, and everyone's right to be heard in their own tongue. Mental Health as Community Health - We affirm that the mental well-being of one affects the whole. A community thrives when its individuals are mentally healthy. Leadership with Abundance and Care - In all our endeavors, we lead with generosity, ensuring that there's plenty for all and that every action is rooted in care. In a rallying cry to all those who share our vision and values, we proudly declare: “An #Army changing the world one grant at a time.” Join us, be part of this global army, and let's transform communities through equitable funding.

We need politicians who prioritize the well-being of Australians. Currently, many Australians face challenges such as limited university access and homelessness, while a significant number of Asian students reside in buildings across cities like Brisbane. This highlights frustration with immigrants or "students" seemingly having more opportunities compared to Australians. In this democracy, representatives should better address the needs of disadvantaged citizens. If we could directly vote on policies, many current measures would not receive endorsement. We must address the concerns of those striving to overcome poverty. Securing housing, employment, and childcare feels nearly impossible. Australians with a criminal history face employment and housing barriers, unlike foreigners who lack comprehensive criminal record screening. Increasing migrant population pressures an overcrowded housing market and job market. Migrants' advanced skills, acquired through paid university placements, make it harder for Australians to compete (source: Australian Bureau of Statistics). We should focus on upskilling and employing Australians for their future and children's future. Improving Australians' perception of their futures is vital. A sense of hope reduces juvenile delinquency. Stable housing, employment, and education reduce juvenile crime rates (source: Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency). Prioritizing Australians' well-being, housing, jobs, and support services is crucial. Neglecting these necessities for foreigners may lead to social unrest (source: Historical studies on socio-political dynamics). Australia needs leaders representing all citizens, especially those struggling. Let's address these concerns, provide equal opportunities, and create a society where every Australian can thrive. Would you like to discuss these issues further?
It was a pleasure to join the members of the Queensland Country Press Association for their annual conference this morning.
