What’s new for our App Pitches this year? Discord is expanding its #platform by introducing a new Embedded App, SDK, set to launch on March 18th. Everyone seemingly has or wants a Discord—why? Why even bother when the platform provides limited discoverability and managing a real-time community is challenging and time-consuming? The answer is that Discord is where your die-hard fans meet one another and is a vital platform for kickstarting your viral growth engine by mobilizing these fans to take collective action. Real-time chat in Discord makes collective action that much easier and provides teams an opportunity to mobilize their army of early fans! Let’s look at an example from one of our clients. A new development studio formed from ex-AAA developers came to us to help them plan Closed Pre-Alpha playtest cycles. They had a small community but wanted to expand it greatly to core indie gamers. They had a short teaser and a signup form. We decided to go to where these core indie gamers hung out—Reddit. We deployed that teaser across several communities there. Once we published in Reddit, we posted the link to it in Discord and asked people to upvote the post and leave a comment for a chance to win a playtest key. What ensued was absolutely crazy. The community showed up in mass to upvote our teaser! We sat at the top of r/IndieGaming and other Subreddits, getting 1,200+ upvotes. We were able to add 5.5K new members to the Discord community in a few short weeks. https://lnkd.in/g5nZ5EeN This simple action let us go quickly from 0 to 1 and served as the foundation for longer-term community growth driven by excited friends inviting friends and WoM amplifying our efforts. After a few months of playtesting and taking feedback, that studio was confident in their early product vision and was able to commit to full development of their title. The studio leveraged this traction for publisher and investor pitches, who were handily convinced that there was something exciting happening. They bought into their vision after seeing the powerful community the game already had driving their growth. #community #discord #marketing #gaming

Google celebrated the graduation of 94 Pakistani app and game development studios from its App Growth Lab program, expanding beyond mobile games.
