Back in 2006 I made a pretty radical decision. I was offered an internship with an incumbent senator that had lost the support of his party for voting his conscience, was being primaried from the left by a much better funded candidate and was losing staff by the day. It turned out to be one of the best choices I ever made. Against the odds, Senator Lieberman went on to win that race and spend six more years in the U.S. Senate, crossing the aisle more than once to build bipartisan consensus scores on scores of issues, many of them in collaboration with his friend and my former boss, Sen. McCain. I've had the good fortune to work with scores of great leaders over the past two decades, but few - if any - come close to demonstrating their courage, integrity and strength of character that came to define Lieberman and McCain. Although I was but a footnote in their long careers, the virtues and moral compass that each of them imparted on me still guide me today. Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech haolam, dayan haemet, Mr. Lieberman.

Well you shared with me another campaign you worked on, but did not know you knew these two gents. While I never met Lieberman I did meet John M as he was my senator when I lived in Arizona. I really liked his wife who was a nurse. Anyway, what I would give to have a president or candidate with a moral compass and one they would follow. Cheers Terry
