At Discord, we believe in creating a digital environment that prioritizes the safety and well-being of our teen users. So when we design safety features, such as Teen Safety Alert, we do so in a way that aims to empowers teens to navigate the digital world confidently. That means:  * We use simple, straightforward language in alerts, making them easily understandable in any situation.  * We aim to guide, not reprimand. Our work is rooted in research to ensure our interventions and language are non-judgemental. * And we give teens clear choices and control when possible, educating them along the way.  Learn more about how we design key touchpoints with users.  #Discord #TeenSafety #DigitalWellbeing #Empowerment #OnlineSafety

Yet, for years, I've had troubles with this platform. I can't speak. I can't solve this problem from my account. Twitch. Twitch is the same. I can't figure out how to resolve a verified account issue when it asks for my cell phone. It pigeonholes me into just a message that it's in another, and I have no idea. There's no customer service button. A button that informs me which Twitch account it is on or Discord, and how to delete it or restore this Twitch to the main one through an email. Also, in Whisper, the settings icon, tell me an option to eliminate that problem. Contacting customer service. Or on my own, but if I don't solve it, I have it. Or a Twitch copilot. Tell me step by step. I can verify the account without having to enter another one that I don't even remember, and maybe even, a strange email that I invented in my youth, which is not the one I have added to my email. "People by email tried to help me once, several times, but it was never successful. Before, I couldn't hear people on Twitch. Now I can, after my computer broke and was fixed. But problems have persisted since I once messed with browser cookies, and Windows, or some extension."

Empowering users is important- even if it is just to help them pause to think through their next action. This all applies to adults too. Unfortunately age doesn't necessarily bring more wisdom when it comes to safely navigating online spaces.
