Roblox is going all-in on ads. The gaming platform announced it's opening up its immersive video ad format to any brand wanting to reach its massive Gen Z audience. Previously, only select advertisers like Walmart and Warner Bros. Discovery. could run these ad experiences on Roblox. But now any company can showcase video ads or branded portals to Roblox's 58 million daily active users. "By advertising on Roblox, brands can create deeper connections and engage tens of millions of Gen Z users who spend millions of hours here daily," said Stephanie Latham, VP of global brand partnerships. In other words, it's a Gen Z marketing terraforming operation. Roblox is leaning into ads as a key revenue stream. 4wReally interesting step for Roblox - it would be interesting to understand how ads are proactively monitored / screened for children ages 13-17. Clearly very topical at the moment, but that age range is still extremely vulnerable and should be treated very differently to say someone over the age of 17.
