We are currently accepting proposals for workshops for the 2024 University of Arizona Women’s Hackathon. After a 3-year hiatus, the Women’s Hackathon is returning this Spring, April 6th and 7th, 2024, and we would love for you to be a part!
The Women’s Hackathon is one weekend long, and aims to support women and allies in participating in technology-rich hackathons by lowering the barrier of entry. We offer workshops for various skill levels, primarily on programming languages, making and crafting skills, as well as design thinking principles and methods. We opened participation beyond women-identifying individuals in 2018 in an effort to widen the conversation about who can help to bring down barriers of participation by women in technological endeavors. The Hackathon, though sponsored by the University, is open to the wider community, and we generally have about 10-15 percent of participants from outside the university community, many from local high schools, including the Girls Who Code group convened by W.I.S.E. (Women in Science and Engineering).
Our programming is currently divided into six tracks: Game Development, Coding, Crafting & Making, Wikipedia, Data Science, and Professional Development, but we are accepting all relevant proposals. If you are interested in leading a workshop, please fill out the form below:
We are hoping to gather all proposals and finalize scheduling in the next 3 weeks. We will be holding a status meeting with all involved parties on February 2nd.
