Activities and expectations:
  • Perform mission-critical financial reporting and business partnering activities (planning, forecasting, budgeting, commercial advise, etc.) for a large company  ($3.5B P&L) across its Audience Measurement, Analytics and Content businesses
  • Play a key role in the financial planning cycle, including monthly/quarterly forecasting, variance analyses against operating plan, trending analyses and walks vs. prior year
  • Drive planning of the annual reporting operating calendar including the budget and LRP process
  • Drive operational improvements and implement best practices around forecasting, budgeting and management reporting
  • Support financial close and reporting processes in partnership with business, commercial and accounting team 
  • Ensure standard reports are produced & available as per stipulated timelines
  • Ensure accuracy of revenue recognition/expense reporting / capex and cash reporting by working closely with commercial and accounting teams to ensure data is accurately captured and reported in line with set guidelines
  • Ensure high-quality operating plans and forecasts minimizing variances of actuals from plan
  • Build advanced analytics for the respective area (revenue/expense / capex and cash) - e.g., customer churn metrics, adherence to pricing and discounting guidelines
  • Partner with business teams on delivering analytics, data, and insights to drive key business decisions and support negotiations
  • Seek continuous improvement of the FP&A function through the identification of opportunities across people, processes, and technology 
  • Support the FP&A org through end-to-end enterprise transformation – drive standardization and automation of reporting at the Corporate and BU level
  • Mentor, train, and guide the team towards growth and development.  Have strong communication, and relationship-building skills and build an executive presence


Competencies/Skills:
  • Prior Finance (8-10 years) experience across revenue, expense, cash, and capex preferred but not required. 
  • Prior experience in Corporate FP&A experience is highly recommended
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Suite (inc. google sheets), SAP, financial systems. Excellent slide/chart-building skills (PowerPoint and/or slides)
  • Sound fundamentals on financial knowledge, analytical ability, and sound understanding of the media ecosystem including some understanding of Nielsen’s products and services
  • Strong modeling and analytical skills with the ability to tease apart information from data to help inform decision-making
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree, CPA, or MBA highly preferred 
  • Ability to develop constructive relationships with executives and colleagues across the organization
  • Strong managerial/ leadership skills
  • Experience with business insights tools is required, comfort with SAP Analytics Cloud is a plus
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated work style, attention to detail, effective communicator

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $66,000 - $225,000, which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications, and other business requirements/needs.
