Set up and use a passkey to sign in

Last updated: 2 weeks ago

Passkey is a secure and passwordless way to sign in to your LinkedIn account using your device – for example, touch ID on your phone or laptop – rather than a LinkedIn password. It provides a fast, secure, and easy-to-use sign in method to protect your account and minimize the risk of account lockouts. Once you create and register a passkey, you can log in to LinkedIn on a new device with the same passkey without needing to re-enroll the new device.

Passkey setup

You can set up a passkey on any of your devices. You may create up to 5 different passkeys for your LinkedIn account. Please note you may not see Create a passkey option if your device's operating version is not up-to-date, if you have reached the 5 passkey limit, or if the feature is not available.

Create a passkey on the same device:

  1. Navigate to your LinkedIn Settings and click Sign in & security.
  2. Click Passkey and then Create a passkey. Enter your password when prompted. You may be prompted to enter a verification code sent to your email address or approve the change through your LinkedIn app.
  3. Follow the prompt from your device to choose how you want to create a passkey.
  4. Enter your credentials for your device when prompted to complete passkey setup.

Create a passkey on different devices with a QR code:

  1. Navigate to your LinkedIn Settings and click Sign in & security.
  2. Click Passkey and then Create a passkey. Enter your password when prompted. ou may be prompted to enter a verification code sent to your email address or approve the change through your LinkedIn app.
  3. On the prompt from your device, select Use a phone or tablet.
  4. A QR code will be displayed. Scan the QR code with the device on which you’d like to create the passkey.
  5. Follow the directions on the device with which you scanned the QR code to complete passkey setup.

Outside of the login prompt, you may set up a new passkey at any time from your LinkedIn Settings. Navigate to Settings, select Sign in & security, and then select Passkeys.
