Chandra Y. joined USDA Rural Development as a Commercial Loan Specialist in February 2022 and became Area Director of the Tuscaloosa Area Office October 2023. She pursued both positions with an equal passion for increasing pluralism and diversity of ideas, contributions, and access to advance the RD mission of increasing participation and programs access. Since then, she has been instrumental in the approval of a water system improvement project serving a Persistent Poverty County, and through outreach, facilitated the exponential increase in disaster victims’ applications to the Single-Family Housing Program by some of the most vulnerable in the service area. #pridemonth
