It is always special to see one of our employees recognized for their hard work by a customer. Our Ramp Agent, Shanaia Mulivai-Keliinoi and Customer Service Agent, Ruta Vele at Harry Reid International Airport were named Employee of the Year by Spirit Airlines and the whole team got together to celebrate this huge win last week. Wins like these strengthen our commitment to delivering excellence to our customers and passengers.

Many companies around the country have committed to help refugees find jobs. But an airport contractor at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is taking a particularly hands-on approach. A key part of its strategy is a recruiter named Mirwais Nawab Jalali. Jalali was a military officer in Afghanistan who fled the country after Kabul fell. He eventually ended up in Decatur, Georgia, with a special immigrant visa for Afghans who supported the U.S. mission in Afghanistan. “I just came and started from zero,” Jalali said. Now, as a recruiter for Unifi, an Atlanta-based aviation contractor, Jalali is helping the company with its recently announced goal to hire 500 refugees by 2027. Read more about how Jalali recruits other refugees, and why Unifi’s chief people officer sees long-term advantages in this strategy: https://lnkd.in/euixwvqt

Bidding farewell to our employee of more than 15 years at XNA Northwest Arkansas National Airport, the team organized a retirement party for Sue Mckinney last week with a retirement cake and pot luck. We thank Sue for years of service in delivering excellence for our customers. We wish her a restful retirement and well earned time with her loved ones.

Wishing all our customers, passengers, and employees a safe Memorial Day. Unifi is a proud employer of veterans, and our Atlanta team recently attended a recruiting event at a military and veteran job fair in Georgia. Today and every day we thank those who dedicate their lives to service and freedom.

Last week Unifi painted the town purple as our colleagues in Atlanta participated in a Relay for Life event honoring all those whose lives have been affected by cancer, the survivors, caregivers, and those who are no longer with us. We are proud to say that we exceeded our goal and helped raise over $10,000 for the American Cancer Society. A special thank you to everyone who contributed, donated, walked and supported this important event!

Embracing the spirit of Ohana and community! In April, our teams across Hawaii participated in the LEI program - in Honolulu, Kahului, and Lihue. LEI stands for Leadership, Exploration, and Inspiration, aiming to equip Hawaii's youth with the tools to succeed in a hospitality career. Unifi employees connected with the community's youth, inspiring the next generation of tourism and travel leaders in Hawaii.
