The Association creates a dynamic space for alumni within the University, maintains a vital presence for the University in the lives of alumni and provides endless opportunities for both alumni and the University to find and build their places in a global community.

    The UCLA Alumni Association is proud to recognize San Francisco Bay Area Bruins as the recipient of the 2024 UCLA Award for Network of the Year for their commitment to extending the reach of UCLA. The Bay Area is home to the largest group of alumni outside of Los Angeles, and the network provides multiple ways to bring people together. The Bay Area Bruins formed in 1969 to provide a social network for UCLA alumni in Northern California. Today the network builds community through engaging, inclusive events that unite alumni of diverse backgrounds and ages. They were honored at the #UCLAAwards Ceremony last month.     The UCLA Alumni Association is proud to recognize Gary Greene ’71 as the recipient of the 2024 UCLA Award for Community Service for his legacy of sharing his love of music to bring people together and engaging others in giving back. Greene graduated from UCLA summa cum laude with membership in Phi Beta Kappa. He continued his education at Loyola Law School, where he graduated with membership in the Saint Thomas More Legal Honor Society, for his dedication to legal studies.     UCLA's seventh chancellor will be Julio Frenk — current president of the University of Miami and a renowned public health leader whose career has spanned the United States and Mexico. He will take the helm of UCLA on Jan. 1, 2025. UCLA's Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Darnell Hunt will serve as interim chancellor from Aug. 1, 2024, until the end of the calendar year.     The UCLA Alumni Association is proud to recognize Chase Griffin ’21, M.Ed. ’23, M.L.S. ’24 as the recipient of the 2024 Young Alumnus of the Year for his leadership and philanthropic commitment. As one of college football’s most recognizable athletes, Griffin has leveraged his status to raise awareness of social justice issues and encourage corporations to invest in community organizations. He launched the Chase Griffin Foundation to help combat food insecurity, especially among young people, and has donated more than $50,000 of his NIL earnings to the Los Angeles Food Bank and other local organizations.
