The UCLA Alumni Association is proud to recognize San Francisco Bay Area Bruins as the recipient of the 2024 UCLA Award for Network of the Year for their commitment to extending the reach of UCLA. The Bay Area is home to the largest group of alumni outside of Los Angeles, and the network provides multiple ways to bring people together. The Bay Area Bruins formed in 1969 to provide a social network for UCLA alumni in Northern California. The UCLA Alumni Association is proud to recognize Chase Griffin ’21, M.Ed. ’23, M.L.S. ’24 as the recipient of the 2024 Young Alumnus of the Year for his leadership and philanthropic commitment. As one of college football’s most recognizable athletes, Griffin has leveraged his status to raise awareness of social justice issues and encourage corporations to invest in community organizations. He launched the Chase Griffin Foundation to help combat food insecurity, especially among young people, and has donated more than $50,000 of his NIL earnings to the Los Angeles Food Bank and other local organizations.
