Your ecomm website won’t exist in 5 years! At an industry dinner recently we were asked which technology we would “marry, kiss, kill” - kiss being a more PG term for those of you that have played the classic version of this game. The kill answer was easy for me: the ecomm website. Sure, the growth playbook over the last 10 years has been the simple acquisition > conversion > retention equation: pass a substantial chunk of your budget to Meta for acquisition, another chunk to “personalize and optimize the customer experience” across your site for conversion, and then lastly your email CRM for retention. Careers and agencies have been made implementing this model. And yes, there will still be some form of a checkout. The main point is future consumers will not come to your website for consideration and engagement. Why? They’ll be looking to their friends, creators, and other humans (and some pets!) for what to buy. And they’ll be engaging in community, authentically connecting around their interests. The best analogy is this: consumer brands have been putting proverbial lemonade stands outside of their houses; painting the signs different colors, using different language, rearranging the assortment…while everybody is at the park. Playing, running, having fun with their friends. In case this analogy is landing flat, “the park”includes gaming, social media, events, and 1:1 peer interaction. So how do you get your brand to “the park” and still own the experience? This is why we built TYB. An owned, community rewards platform that makes your community your most valuable growth channel.
