Congratulations to DAISY Nurse Leader Award winner Jodi Vaughan RN! 🌼🏆
The DAISY Award (The DAISY Foundation) is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates the clinical skill and compassionate care nurses give daily. St. Joseph's Health Hospital is proud to be a DAISY Award Hospital Partner, recognizing our nurses with this special honor.
After more than 20 years working with Jodi, her manager and friend nominated her for this award because of her skills as the best patient advocate she has ever seen, among other important nursing attributes.
Her nominator shared a recent case where Jodi’s patient took a turn for the worse. Jodi did her assessment and was concerned the patient may have a serious abdominal issue.
“She quickly called Rapid Response … the patient, in fact, had an acute abdomen and was rushed to the OR within and hour. Jodie saved the patient's life.”
Jodi’s humility and ability to educate others was also recognized.
“Jodi is the best patient advocate that I have ever seen. She does not do her work for a pat on the back, but for the quiet satisfaction of helping others and doing what she believes is the best, right, and only thing to do. Sometimes she is the first to arrive to work and the very last to leave, ensuring that her patients are safe and well cared for, showing reverence to her peers and staying to help when there is so much going on still to be done.”
“Jodi has inspired her peers, especially the newer nurses on PCU. They have taken notice and admire and respect her for her excellent assessment skills, experience, and intuition. I cannot think of a more wonderful nurse than Jodi to receive a DAISY Award.”
Please join us in thanking Jodi for her expertise, compassion and willingness to share her knowledge to help others.
