About us
When Treehouse California Almonds was first started in the early 1980’s, the mission was clear: deliver premium quality almond products to the baking and confectionary industries. Using high-quality raw almonds sourced primarily from our own orchards, innovative processing techniques, and a higher self-standard, we made confectionary grade almonds available to bakeries, confectionaries, and food entrepreneurs all over the world. Over 30 years later, our mission to deliver the very best almond products –while maintaining respect for bees, farmers and the environment—is shown through commitment to Good Agricultural Practices and Good Management Practices. As we grow, our dedication to delivering exceptional quality for our customers is the natural result of our “farm to table” approach and our goal to preserve our farming heritage and deliver Pure Almond Goodness for generations to come.

How California's Almond Orchards Are Combating Climate Change In the heart of California's agricultural wealth, approximately 1.6 million acres of almond trees not only produce delicious almonds but also play a crucial role in the fight against climate change. Danielle Veenstra, an experienced almond grower and Senior Manager of Reputation Management and Sustainability Communications at the Almond Board of California, shared insights about this significant environmental contribution in an interview with The Ag Information Network's California Tree Nut program. With the increasing global focus on sustainability and the challenges posed by climate change, the role of agriculture – especially almond cultivation – becomes increasingly important. Almond trees, by their very nature, contribute significantly to carbon sequestration, a vital process for climate regulation. Danielle highlighted the substantial impact of these trees: “Our almond orchards across California capture an impressive amount of 30 million metric tons of carbon annually.” To put this in perspective, this amount of carbon sequestration is equivalent to the annual emissions of 3,000 Boeing 737 aircraft or the combined annual emissions of the world's four largest airlines. This impact also compares to the emissions of 29 coal-fired power plants or about 24.5 million cars – the total number of cars in California, Washington, Oregon, and Texas combined. The California Tree Nut Report focuses on the needs and issues of tree nut growers who care for two million acres of tree nut orchards, which represent an annual revenue stream of more than $8 billion for California's agricultural economy. This program is hosted by Patrick Cavanaugh, California's most respected agribusiness journalist. We announce that The Almond Project has won the "2023 Award for Excellence in Sustainability" from the INC - International Nut and Dried Fruit Council! The award ceremony took place during the INC World Nut & Dried Fruit Congress from May 8th to 10th. The Award for Excellence in Sustainability highlights projects and companies that have made a notable contribution and serving as inspiration in the field of sustainability. This year, the Back to the Planet award recognized initiatives showing remarkable commitment to environmental management. The Almond Project is a multi-year, farmer-led partnership created to identify more sustainable farming methods and pave the way towards a more resilient future for almonds. By building a coalition of farmers, scientists, brands, technical service providers, processors, and customers, we’re implementing and testing a variety of soil health practices on almond farms in California. We’re measuring key outcomes across soil and ecosystem health, such as water holding capacity and infiltration, carbon sequestration, and ecosystem biodiversity in comparison to neighboring baselines. Our mission is to preserve natural resources, enable ecosystem regeneration, protect farming communities, and ensure the livelihood of nutritionally-rich almonds for generations to come. This recognition greatly motivates us to continue our commitment to sustainable practices in the industry. Want to know more about the awards and The Almond Project?
