💡 State Funding for Natural Refrigerants session reviewed current and future funding options including the $65 Million California F-gas Incentive Reduction Program (FRIP), and other states actively pursuing funding programs. ➡ Mike FitzGibbon , Branch Chief, Research Division, California Air Resources Board (CARB) said, “After successfully completing Round 1 of the #Fgas Reduction Incentive Program with 15 projects saving 37,000 metric tons of #CO2e emission, we are now designing Round 2 with the California legislature allotting $65 million to support the commercial and industrial refrigeration sector’s adoption of refrigerants with a #GWP of less than 10, which includes #training over 500 technicians to help remove that market barrier for the adoption of these technologies.” ➡ Danielle Wright, Executive Director, North American Sustainable Refrigeration Council (NASRC) said, “We have 55,000 #foodretail organizations plus manufacturers and other stakeholders working with us to overcome the hurdles and accelerate the adoption of natural refrigerants. During the training panel, experts talked about the offer of natural refrigerants-based training and certification opportunities. 🎓 🔹 Rusty Walker, Training Director, North American Sustainable Refrigeration Council (NASRC) said, “To address the gap of technicians needed to transition from #HFCs, NASRC supports our established network of schools 🏫 with training and equipment, recruits students with events and learning opportunities and seeks to promote careers by establishing the first food retail refrigeration-focused trade campaign.” 🔹 Jim Barron, Executive Director, Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association (RETA) - Official Page, said, “Training on natural refrigerants ‒ #ammonia, #CO2 and #hydrocarbons ‒ ensures the safety of everyone involved, including homeowners, commercial employees, technicians, contractors and end users.” 🔹 Scott Ercole, P.E., Vice President of Technical Sales, CoolSys - Refrigeration and HVAC Systems said, “There is simply not enough technicians to transition from HFCs, and the gap is only growing, with roughly 80,000 HVAC&R technicians jobs currently unfilled.” #GoNatRefs #ATMOAmerica #NaturalRefrigerants #Training #HVACR Michael Hines
