Today we are grateful for Leonardo Fibonacci. Fibonacci played a critical role in reviving ancient mathematics in Europe; he created a bridge that allowed Indian and Arabic mathematical culture to cross into European worlds. His revolutionary teachings prepared the stage for the development of modern (symbolic) algebra and also marked the beginning of the modern financial system and doing business that depends on sophisticated banking methods.   November 23rd is celebrated as Fibonacci day because when the date is written, 11/23, the digits within the date form a Fibonacci sequence: 1,1,2,3.   Happy Fibonacci Day, and Happy Thanksgiving to all!
