    As Father’s Day approaches, we’re proud to spotlight the inspiring Subway franchisee father-son duo, Marcus Wright and Marcus Wright II. Nearly a decade ago, Marcus Wright embarked on his Subway journey by purchasing his first restaurant. Today, the father and son team collectively own five locations. "Partnering with my son in business brings peace of mind, knowing he holds the best interests of our business and family. Witnessing his growth as both a man and an entrepreneur has been immensely rewarding. Our collaboration as Subway franchisees fosters deeper communication, involving our entire family in the decision-making process. Having served in the military for over 27 years, there were moments I missed out on family time. This shared venture has strengthened our family ties and gifted us with more cherished moments together," shares Marcus Wright. "As a young man eager to grow and learn, the guidance and feedback from my father has been invaluable. He's allowed me the autonomy to make my own decisions while imparting wisdom and insights beyond what I learned in school. Importantly, he never pressured me into joining the business; the choice was always mine. Initially, I dipped my toes in by working occasional shifts at the restaurant; then, as I discovered more opportunities for growth, I fully committed to the business. Embracing this venture was the right decision, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat," says Marcus Wright II. This Father’s Day, father and son reflect on their shared journey with gratitude and celebrate their bond through their shared business. To this exceptional duo and all fathers, Happy Father’s Day!     I had never hosted a fireside chat in my life until I panic walked into that room with Popeyes last year (I had just finished the keynote and was trying to figure out if I was in some kind of fever dream). These firesides went back-to-back on 30-minute blocks for two days essentially. Although insane, I think it made a compelling setup since we went pretty deep, and the rooms were intimate enough to feel like everyone was part of it. In Year 2 for QSR Evolution, I decided to dedicate an entire track to these again, so they'll run from start to finish. All new perspectives. And this time, we extended the sessions so they're an hour and there's more room for engagement from you all. With all that said, though, I want to highlight one I think is going to be worth the price of admission (on that note, early bird ends June 14 ...) Mike Kehoe, the global chief development officer of Subway, is going to join me for a discussion around the brand's continued transformation and, in particular, how some of its international whitespace is coming together. I imagine being a CDO is always a complex deal, but we're talking about a brand with 37,000 global units. So needless to say, we'll be packed on this one.     🌈 To kick off Pride Month, we’re shining a spotlight on Manager of Franchise Performance Sam Chatman! In his role, Sam partners with franchisees to help improve profitability for over 90 Subway restaurants. He’s known for his goal-oriented and results-driven mindset, qualities that contributed to Sam being recognized last year among his peers. “Pride month for me is a time to honor and celebrate myself and others, to cherish what makes us unique, and to eliminate the stigma of being a minority within a minority group. Being a member of the LGBTQ+ community at Subway is incredibly fulfilling, as I get to be who I am while doing what I love.
