This summer, we’re working with youth across schools and organizations in Detroit! We’re introducing them to coding, programming, augmented reality, motion capture, mobile app design and more during their five-week Summer Tech Exploration with our Community Impact Incubator inaugural cohort organization JOURNi. Our Summer Program Team is training this week and having a blast #robot racing while setting the stage for youth-centered beat-the-heat fun! This is how we get ready for kiddos! #STEM #robotics #outofschooltime #opportunity #partnerships

On this #Juneteenth, we're celebrating the shoulders we stand on and our unapologetic belief and investment in #BlackLeaders! Kanada Class III Launch Week is officially in the books, and the energy, brilliance, love, and authenticity was palpable-from our Meet and Greet with #Kanada Alumni, SCP Equity Initiatives Alumni, and our greater village at #WillowDetroit to exclusive tickets to a sold-out, nationally televised historical Michigan CentralTrain Station’s re-opening and concert sponsored by Ford Motor Company to our first monthly convening grounded in standing on shoulders of greatness! Launch week is all about our fellows being reminded of who they are, walking in their power, and knowing they have a village around them! Congratulations, again, to our third class of #KanadaFellows! #Detroit #SoutheasternMichigan #ForgeYourFrontier #BlackLeadership #BlackExcellence #LeadershipDevelopment

Congratulations to Centering Black Children in Education (CBCE) for a beautiful Inaugural Shades of Black Gala with #BlackGenius, #BlackExcellence, and #BlackBeauty! The gala helped raise funds to further educational experiences for youth and educators across #Detroit. For the last year, SCP has partnered with The Skillman Foundation to offer our #fiduciaryservices to support CBCE in their endeavors--allowing them to focus on the powerful work. We couldn’t be more proud of all that has been birthed through The Sankofa Scholarship Collective and Centering Black Children in Education. Keep leading, #DrRema --we are our ancestors’ wildest dreams!

What an unforgettable night at the Michigan Central re-opening concert! This week is our Kanada Fellowship Class III Launch Week, and it also marked the historical re-opening of Detroit’s train station. We had the honor of hosting our fellows at this sold-out, nationally televised event, celebrating with legendary performances by Diana Ross, The Clark Sisters, Big Sean, Common, and Eminem. Seeing them live on the same stage (and returning to their hometown, in some cases) was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Special thanks to Bill Ford and Ford Motor Company for a night to remember. #KanadaFellows #DetroitStrong #MotorCityMagic #MichiganCentralStation #LiveMusic

Last week, our virtual SCP Squad-up was amazing! Our team has grown, welcoming fresh perspectives and diverse talents from across the country. It was fantastic to come together for an hour with our core team, consultants, and members as a village. We made new connections, learned about work happening beyond our neighborhoods and states, and celebrated our community. Special shout out to Dr. Sirrita Darby of Detroit Heals Detroit and Richard Grundy of JOURNi! We were thrilled to spotlight your organizations and work as part of SCP. Our CEO, Dr. Chanel Hampton, always says we have DOPE people doing DOPE work, and this session truly proved it! We’re still buzzing with excitement and can’t wait to convene our village again in July! #BecauseEquityEmpowers #Detroit #NJ #ATL #STL #SCP
