What an unforgettable night at the Michigan Central re-opening concert! This week is our Kanada Fellowship Class III Launch Week, and it also marked the historical re-opening of Detroit’s train station. We had the honor of hosting our fellows at this sold-out, nationally televised event, celebrating with legendary performances by Diana Ross, The Clark Sisters, Big Sean, Common, and Eminem. Seeing them live on the same stage (and returning to their hometown, in some cases) was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Special thanks to Bill Ford and Ford Motor Company for a night to remember. #KanadaFellows #DetroitStrong #MotorCityMagic #MichiganCentralStation #LiveMusic

Last week, our virtual SCP Squad-up was amazing! Our team has grown, welcoming fresh perspectives and diverse talents from across the country. It was fantastic to come together for an hour with our core team, consultants, and members as a village. We made new connections, learned about work happening beyond our neighborhoods and states, and celebrated our community. Special shout out to Dr. Sirrita Darby of Detroit Heals Detroit and Richard Grundy of JOURNi! We were thrilled to spotlight your organizations and work as part of SCP. Our CEO, Dr. Chanel Hampton, always says we have DOPE people doing DOPE work, and this session truly proved it! We’re still buzzing with excitement and can’t wait to convene our village again in July! #BecauseEquityEmpowers #Detroit #NJ #ATL #STL #SCP

Last week the SCP Program Team worked with Chamberlin Pony Rides to bring the farm to the city for our students at GOAL Line as part of their #FunFridays series.🚜 Seeing the children's faces light up as they fed and petted ponies, alpacas, goats, and sheep was truly heartwarming.🥰 Petting farms provide a unique and meaningful experience for children, exposing them to animals and activities they might never encounter in their daily lives. These moments ignite curiosity and joy through direct interaction with gentle animals, helping kids develop empathy, build self-assurance, and create cherished memories.🐐🌟#PettingFarmJoy #KidsAndAnimals #PositiveImpact

On this #NationalBeeDay, let's shout-out the remarkable organizations dedicated to the protection and conservation of bee populations. 🐝🌻 Groups like Detroit Hives, part of our Thriving Neighborhoods Cohort, aren’t just protecting pollinators—they’re fighting for the survival of our ecosystems and our food supply. By supporting these heroes and the bees they defend, we ensure a brighter and greener future for all. Thank you for your unwavering dedication and passion to preserve these tiny but mighty champions! 🌼 #Detroit #ProtectThePollinators #SupportBeeConservation

We had the honor of attending the Red Jacket Gala, City Year's iconic fundraising event last Friday, celebrating 25 years of impact in Detroit.💃🏾✨ We were so proud to support our Kanada Fellow, Sherisse M. Butler, who made history as the first Black female ED of City Year Detroit for their annual gala! We also had the pleasure of running into several SCP partners, team members, and contributors, such as Tonya Adair, Chief Development, Diversity & Engagement Officer at United Way for Southeastern Michigan! We’re thrilled to have been part of this momentous occasion. Check out our team's highlights from the evening! #RedJacketGala #CityYearDetroit
