For some physicians, the impetus for dedicating their lives to others is brought about by an impactful experience in medicine. Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Robert Saeid Farivar's passion began when he witnessed his 39-year-old father experience a heart attack at the age of 16. Today in the Idaho Business Review Dr. Farivar shares his journey in medicine and cardiac surgery, what heart conditions face our local community most, and about what it means to be Idaho’s only hospital to receive the national Three-Star Rating Award for Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Read the whole piece here https://lnkd.in/gekW_A5M. Don’t miss out on what might have been Dr. Farivar’s vocational calling if it hadn’t been medicine. His answer will surprise you! #ourcallingisyou #cardiology #cardiologist #hearthealth

Summer means more hours in the sun and more time in the water, but it also marks peak trauma season from Memorial Day to Labor Day. According to recent American Red Cross data, 10 people die every day from unintentional drowning, and on average two of them are 14 years or younger. With the Boise River float season just around the corner and all the area lakes, reservoirs and natural bodies of water brimming, we want to offer up some quick tips for staying safe by the water this summer: Keep to the buddy system: Swimming alone isn’t fun or safe. Find a friend to swim with. Children should also be constantly supervised when around water, even if a lifeguard is on duty. Keep an eye out for signs: Safe and unsafe areas for swim are marked and with good reason. Stay within the designated areas and aware of posted signs and warnings. Hydrate the right way: Alcohol before or during water fun impairs judgment and coordination. Buckle up: Whether you’re an expert or beginner swimmer, a properly fitted life jacket should be worn for all boating, tubing and water sport fun. Enroll in swim lessons or a water safety class: You’re never too old to learn to swim, especially when it means saving a life. Find a water safety class near you or online by visiting https://lnkd.in/gVA8sybw #WaterSafety #Traumaseason

According to the Idaho Transportation Department, 70 people have lost their lives in traffic crashes this year alone. This summer we urge you to: - Put down phones and food. - Never drive under the influence. - Take your time. - Give everyone a little extra space. And, always buckle up! Legacy would be hard to embody in one image, but we may be close with this one. Today President and CEO of Trinity Health, West Region Odette Bolano, Sister Beth Mulvaney, Sister Madeleine Clayton, and Sister Mary Lou Wahler shared a final breakfast as they reflected on their time serving together. “We have been extremely blessed to have the presence of Sisters in important Mission roles for the last decade while many other Trinity Health Ministries and many Catholic Healthcare systems and hospitals lost their physical presence many years back,” Odette shared. “We treasure seeing our Sisters as they help us immediately reflect on their beautiful heritage and the legacy they have entrusted to us. We will continue to honor them every day in how we live our Mission and core values.” To continuing in the mission of compassionate, transformative care within our communities. Join us in celebrating their legacy below!
