"PUENTE" is also the Spanish word for "bridge." Since 1985, PUENTE has been a bridge to opportunity for over 90,000 individuals, building strong educational foundations to advance higher education goals, secure gainful employment, and achieve greater self-sufficiency. To date, PUENTE has served over 100,000 community members through our needs-responsive, intergenerational programs. PUENTE provides a welcoming space for children, youth, and adults to grow both academically and personally. Programs for children are designed to create an intellectually stimulating environment that motivates students to achieve an age-appropriate mastery of reading, writing, math, and computer skills, gain knowledge of science and history and participate in enriching arts programs. We offer: -Preschool Readiness -Charter School -After School Enrichment PUENTE’s options for young adult and adult students move them from basic education to secondary education and workforce readiness. PUENTE Charter Elementary School has been selected as an implementation grantee in the California Community School Partnership Program. With transformative support of $1 million+ over the next five years, this grant is a testament to our commitment to addressing deep-seated educational disparities in the PUENTE community and the Boyle Heights neighborhood. Community schools recognize that a child's potential cannot be fully realized if they are burdened by the weight of external challenges such as poverty, inadequate healthcare, or lack of access to resources. With this grant, PUENTE Charter Elementary will continue to work on identifying student barriers, collaborate with community partners to leverage resources, and improve the overall well-being of students & families within the neighborhoods we serve.

Our food distribution this month was able to provide over 150 students and families with fresh food and nutritional education! An on-site chef 🧑🍳 answered questions and demonstrated a fresh (and delicious) salad families could re-create for their loved ones. 🥗 Moments like these are possible thanks to those willing to extended a helping hand.
