Yesterday one of our Transport Drivers and Army veteran Karl Dence drove the final stretch of our Rolling Remembrance relay, bringing a U.S. flag flown in combat to PepsiCo’s headquarters. In this annual event, associates, all of them veterans, cross the country to raise funds for the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. We set a goal to become #netzero by 2040 – ten years ahead of the Paris agreement. That’s not a simple task, particularly for some of our sites that have been operating for decades. So I’m really proud that our 50-year-old plant in Etxabarri-Ibiña, Spain, is expected to become PepsiCo's first global beverage plant with net-zero emissions (including renewable energy certificates) in 2025. The plant is replacing natural gas with clean electricity and is on its way to achieving 100% electrification. The leadership of Silviu Popovici, Archana Jagannathan, Pol Codina, Tanit Bravo Bordas, Iñaki Ochoa de Aspuru, and Marta Puyuelo has been outstanding to move us toward this plant’s milestone.
