We're devastated to share this news about the loss of a beloved colleague. We miss you, Bill.
On behalf of the entire Outcomes4Me team, we are deeply saddened to share the tragic news that our beloved colleague, VP of Engineering Bill Desmarais, passed away shortly after the solar eclipse on Monday April 8th. Just a few months ago, Bill was diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a rare condition. He was determined to fight the fight and had a bone marrow transplant in early March. Unfortunately, he suffered a brain bleed, a complication of his diagnosis, from which he could not recover. He fought to the very end with a smile and positive spirit. Bill was a pillar of our team and had a huge impact on our technology, our product, our way of working, and our culture over the last three years. He deeply cared about his team and every person at Outcomes4Me. His mentorship touched every engineer, those that were just starting and the most experienced ones. He was truly passionate about the work we do and our mission to help patients. His positive energy and kind spirit were contagious and felt in every corner of the office, across every Google Meet and Zoom meeting, and in every Slack message he sent. He was family to us. He made us feel like family. Bill had also a deep impact on me personally. His ideas, feedback, and approach challenged me to think and act differently. His relentless focus on our impact on patients pushed me and all of us to make sure our technology was addressing the needs of patients. His attention to people and empathy ultimately made me a better leader. His premature death leaves a deep void in our company and in our hearts. I still have the text that he wrote to me from the hospital saying: “And I hope you know, but I’ll say it: I’m all in with you on O4M.” This is who Bill was. He cared about everyone before himself, and his impact and legacy will be with us forever. Bill leaves behind his wife, Carolyn, his twin 15-year old sons Will and Joe, his parents Charlie and Barbara, his brother Scott, and his sister, Sara. Our deep condolences go to them during this difficult time. If you’d like to contribute, a GoFundMe to offset medical and memorial costs and support Will and Joe’s education can be accessed at this link: https://lnkd.in/eMeNZdPW A celebration of life is planned for: Saturday, April 27th at 1:00pm Cochran Chapel, Phillips Academy campus 2 Chapel Avenue, Andover, MA 01810
