Orbit Fab envisions a thriving in-space market for products and services that support both existing space businesses (communications and Earth observation) and new industries like space tourism, manufacturing, and mining. The first step is achieving ubiquitous availability of satellite propellant in Earth orbit, expanding the operational potential of new and existing space assets and providing unprecedented business model flexibility for satellite owners. The future for satellites is no longer restricted to the fuel they are launched with. It is about getting the fuel and other materials they need, where and when they need it, to accomplish things never before thought possible.

As engineers, we always want to push our designs to the limit. We performed a burst test on a RAFTI valve core to failure. Unfortunately, we are too good at designing, and the test stand gave out before we broke the valve. We'd like to introduce you to GRIP, the active mate to RAFTI. 🛰 We have recently completed successful Capture Envelope characterization at the ROC Lab with the team at AFRL. We demonstrated that our capture envelope exceeds our requirements. We also demonstrated how little force is imparted on either spacecraft, a roughly 200 kg spacecraft doesn't even have the energy to click a ball point pen. This shows how safe and cost effective a refueling solution utilizing RAFTI can be for a satellite operator. For around the cost of a traditional pair of Fill/Drain valves ($30,000) you can not only do all your ground servicing, but now also have the opportunity to refuel on orbit with the RAFTI servicing valve! #onedropoffuelchangeseverything #gasstationsinspace ⛽ 🚀
