In April, I represented OneCourt on the stage at the Flywheel Investment Conference organized by NCW Tech Alliance. Extremely grateful for the opportunity to pitch, learn, and enjoy a few sunny days in Wenatchee. The great news - our team was awarded both a $50,000 investment award and $5,000 fan favorite prize. On Friday April 11th my wife and I attended the Portland Trail Blazers @ the Rose Quarter game compliments of Northwest Association for Blind Athletes to try out some exciting new technology from OneCourt. During the live game we had the opportunity to use their haptic display device for the pilot launch of this new technology. Designed for visually impaired sports fans who are blind or have low vision, it quite literally changed the game experience for my wife in ways I never imagined possible. Via an earpiece and the touch pad, my wife was able to explain to me what was happening in the game in real time. This was an entirely new experience for me personally, but that’s besides the point. I’d like to give a big shout out to OneCourt for not only pioneering this new technology but sharing it with myself and my wife. A year ago I joined OneCourt, a company that uses haptics to make live sports more accessible to people with blindness and low vision. Last weekend, I found myself in Boston for the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference as a finalist in their startup competition - and I'm excited to share that OneCourt won!   Over the past 12 months, I've had the opportunity to wear multiple hats within the company. From building financial models from scratch to collaborating with Antyush Bollini and Alexa Garay on strategizing our go-to-market approach, OneCourt has exposed me to a myriad of real-world challenges. Tackling these obstacles has allowed me to hone my problem-solving skills across various disciplines. Last weekend, I traveled to Boston with Simon Dey to attend the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference and compete as a finalist in their startup competition. I'm excited to share that OneCourt won the startup competition! #SSAC brought together a diverse audience of attendees passionate about the #PowerOfSports ranging from college students and former athletes to executives from teams, leagues, and startups from around the world. Our booth was constantly swamped, and we were flooded with inbound visitors who were pointed in our direction via colleagues and other attendees. This, in addition to winning the competition, shows the hunger for accessibility and inclusivity in sports. Special thanks to Justin Friedman and Kathryn Hodel for enabling us to attend, Raghav Garg, Rachael Harkavy, and Jonathan Klinner for facilitating our experience, Jessica Gelman and Daryl Morey for putting on the conference, pitch competition judges Christine Jiang, Tiffany Morris Palazzo, and Will Whiston for selecting us as winners, and Gavin Hooper for letting us crash at his apartment. The connections, learnings, and exposure from this conference are invaluable and I can't wait to see where this will lead for OneCourt. Sports are for everyone!
