Congratulations to Elemental Excelerator on publishing their latest report: Closing the $150B Funding Gap with 'Old Tools' and 'New Friends'! NYCEEC is proud to be a 'New Friend' of Elemental, and we're excited to tackle the climate tech funding gap as part of these collaborations!
🧗🏽♀️Exciting News! We are thrilled to announce the release of “Traversing the Climate Technology Scale Gap,” a collaborative report with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and BCG X that delves into the critical challenges and opportunities in scaling climate technology. Over the last year, we have engaged with over 100 investors from across the climate capital stack to talk about the $150B scale gap that is hindering early-stage commercial deployments. In these conversations, we uncovered a promising idea: with a few thoughtful adjustments, we already have what it takes to de-risk investments in the scale gap. 👀 A combination of existing financial instruments (“old tools”) 🧰 and strategic partnerships (“new friends”) 🤝can mitigate the risks associated with early-stage climate technology projects and eliminate the “green premium” that has made it too expensive to reduce global emissions at the necessary scale to combat climate change. Read the report to learn more about how we are traversing the scale gap: https://lnkd.in/g6gMXhep A heartfelt thank you to the many friends, old and new, who made this report possible. To the BCG contributors Parham Peiroo, Veronica Chau, Katie Hill, Raju Sarma, Vinay Shandal, Michael Bernstein. And to our Elemental team: Melissa Uhl, Dawn Lippert, Saritha Peruri, Avra van der Zee, and Danya Hakeem.

New transaction announcement! NYCEEC recently provided an approximately $1.2 million loan to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA) to finance a building electrification project to upgrade their HVAC and hot water systems. The construction-to-term loan will finance the transition from an oil burning heating & cooling system to an all-electric variable refrigerant flow (VRF) HVAC system, as well as a hot water heat pump. The project is expected to have a reduction in energy usage of about 63%, compared to baseline usage, and should save approximately 3,300 MTons of carbon dioxide equivalent from being released to the atmosphere. NY Green Bank is excited to announce the completion of two transactions with New York City Energy Efficiency Corporation (NYCEEC) to support energy-efficient, affordable housing in Brooklyn and the Bronx. ➡️ In Brooklyn, NYGB has committed up to $1.75 million of funding toward a $3.5 million predevelopment loan, offering crucial financial backing for a Passive House-certified, 172-unit affordable housing project in Coney Island, where NYCEEC is the lead lender. Impact-driven developers face challenges securing funding for building decarbonization in underserved communities, and NYGB is proud to provide this support. ➡️ In the Bronx, our $1.25 million participation in a $2.5 million predevelopment loan deploys NYGB capital to support NYCEEC’s predevelopment loan investing in an all-electric 72-unit affordable housing development. A shortage of quality housing choices is especially challenging for low-income earners. NYGB addresses this challenge by providing capital to experienced lenders and development teams during the predevelopment phase, enabling project teams to plan and design effectively.
