In this study, results show that nurse coordinators were successful in promoting donor-derived cell-free DNA test adoption without adding to the workload of clinic staff. Kudos to all involved, and congrats to the team on the second place recognition from NATCO - The Organization for Donation and Transplant Professionals 👏

We're delighted to share that data from "Role of Nurse Coordinator in Leveraging Efficiency Gains of dd-cfDNA Testing in Post-Thoracic Transplant Patients: A Pilot Study" was presented today at the NATCO - The Organization for Donation and Transplant Professionals 2024 Annual Meeting. This poster received 2nd place among our peers, showcasing the increasing significance of the great work by our team. Lead author and presenter Paulina Guajardo, BSN, RN shared that nurse coordinators (NCs) are particularly well-suited to promote new test integration into clinical practice given their role in liaising between the test providers and clinic staff caring for transplant patients. Study details: 🧬 Four Natera NCs conducted a pilot study over three quarters, to establish/optimize the integration of the Prospera™ test, Natera's donor-derived cell-free DNA (dd-cfDNA) test for detecting allograft rejection risk, in 15 post-thoracic transplant clinics. 📝 NCs implemented a dd-cfDNA testing workflow in all clinics focusing on enhancing test utilization (increase testing volume), decreasing turnaround time (reduce missing information (MI) rate), and increasing operational efficiency (increase order completion rate). 📊 To achieve these goals, NCs utilized strategies including educating clinic staff on dd-cfDNA testing, performing continuous test workflow evaluations, collaborating with clinic staff for workflow feedback, addressing operational obstacles, and providing help with the clinical and operational aspects of the test. 🔍 NCs effectively integrated and optimized dd-cfDNA testing workflows into the routine protocols across all clinics evidenced by the robust increases in testing volume (> 20%), substantial reductions in MI rate (~22%), and high order completion rates (90-100%). ✔️NCs are uniquely positioned to strengthen the link between test provider and clinic staff to improve transplant patient health. While integrating new diagnostics into transplantation clinics protocols can enhance patient outcomes, it may burden clinic staff with additional administrative tasks, impeding new test adoption. In this study, results show that NCs were successful in swiftly promoting dd-cfDNA test adoption without adding to the workload of clinic staff. #NATCO #NATCO24 #Natera

Signatera has met coverage requirements from the CMS MolDX program in two new indications: ovarian cancer in the adjuvant and surveillance settings, and breast cancer in the neoadjuvant setting. “These important Medicare decisions support our ability to personalize disease management for patients with ovarian cancer, the most lethal gynecologic malignancy worldwide, and extend existing coverage in breast cancer to the neoadjuvant setting,” said Minetta Liu, M.D., chief medical officer of oncology at Natera. These determinations add to a growing list of covered indications for #Signatera, including adjuvant and recurrence monitoring coverage in colorectal cancer, muscle-invasive bladder cancer, and breast cancer; and pan-cancer immunotherapy response monitoring.
