DOB issues MILLIONS in penalties for late façade inspection reports – and negligent parking garage owners are subject to similar penalties Recently, DOB staff met with the City Council’s joint committee hearing to provide updates on Department operations as well as the ongoing process for parking garage inspection reports. In NYC, building owners are required to regularly file reports on the condition of their facades and parking garages. These reports are critical for ensuring that properties are in safe condition and for catching potential structural issues BEFORE they become a problem. And recent data shows that despite a 97% compliance rate for façade inspections, DOB has collected $14 million in penalties from negligent building owners throughout the City who have failed to submit their mandatory façade inspection reports. Late parking inspection reports have similar penalties as late façade reports, and the next deadline for parking reports is August 1.
