When a tornado struck Thomas Jefferson High School and a nearby elementary school in 2018 leaving significant damage to both schools, Dallas Independent School District decided to rebuild and renovate both campuses. The district wanted to create the PreK-8th grade school on the same site as the high school to create a revitalized and unified campus that accommodated all grade levels.
