“A study funded by Maven found that out of roughly 8,900 patients on its platform, women who had at least two virtual doula visits were less likely to have a cesarean birth than those who didn’t have virtual doula visits.” Thanks to Alisha Haridasani Gupta and The New York Times for featuring our research on the impact virtual doula care can have on birth outcomes for mothers and their babies. In this week’s issue of The Preprint, our Chief Medical Officer Dr. Neel Shah ponders the question: how can we better ensure that our fertility system meets the range of needs of those it's meant to serve? Today, nearly one third of LGBTQ+ adults are parents to children under the age of 18, and half of LGBTQ+ millennials are actively planning to grow their families. Despite the growing need for care, the current fertility landscape is almost solely tuned to cisgender, heterosexual women. And within the LGBTQ+ community, the gaps in care are as diverse as the community itself. Read the full issue here to dive into the history of LGBTQ+ family building, the barriers to care, and what the future of queer fertility care can look like:  https://lnkd.in/eUqZ4B7m #Pride2024

Last week, our clinical team published new research drawing on data from more than 5,400 pregnancies that highlights the role digital health can play in influencing birth preferences and outcomes. Among those who preferred cesarean delivery at enrollment, greater engagement with our digital product was associated with five times increased odds of having a vaginal delivery. Reducing unnecessary C-sections improves maternal and infant health outcomes while decreasing healthcare costs for employers and health plans. These findings underscore the opportunity for digital health to empower parents-to-be with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions on their pregnancy journeys.
