Exciting news in the world of fusion energy! Zap Energy, along with their collaborators at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, University of California, San Diego, and University of Washington, have achieved a significant milestone in fusion energy. They’ve published a peer-reviewed article demonstrating electron temperature greater than 10 million degrees in a sheared-flow-stabilized Z pinch. This is a major physics milestone for the broader fusion energy research community. This achievement marks a dividing line between “concept exploration” and readiness for “concept development” as measured by the Lawson criterion. It’s a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovation of the team at Zap Energy and their collaborators. We’re thrilled to see such progress in the field of fusion energy.
